New PW owner

Post by Gypsysmith » Mon Dec 17, 2018 12:11 pm

Hey all. I just bought a stock 06 with the exception of air bags. It’s only got 57k on it. It’s clean inside and out. This is by far the most luxurious vehicle I have ever owned.

I have owned a stock 06 2500 2wd, 6spd standard, Hemi, quad cab short bed since new. It is 100% manual and basic. I installed an Aluminum flat bed, and air bags. It’s an excellent work truck.

I’ve had the PW for about a month now. I adjusted the steering box and replaced the track bar bushings. I installed a kenwood touch screen in the dash. I got a tool box for the bed to install soon. The next order of business is DOR steering bracket and diff covers. Otherwise I will run through a 60k maintenance myself.

So far I’ve taken my wife and 4yr old son on the Pinkham trail in Joshua tree, we also played in the mud and snow in big bear. I instantly become everybody’s recovery vehicle. No biggie. I used to wheel jeeps a lot.

I fell out of wheeling over the last few years. I just don’t have the time and money to build a full trail rig. I can use the PW for work, not just play. It’s nice being able to leave my 2wd Ram setup for work without having to plan around the rest of my busy life. My wife bought a 30ft travel trailer and we are really looking forward to some epic (off) road trips.

PS. I spent a long time waiting for the Jeep Rescue, and thought hard about a Ford Excursion. I am confident that I made the right decision with the PW

I’ll try to post pics when I get a chance.

Welcome! Glad to hear you’re loving the truck so far. If you wheel with/around Jeepers, you’ll get lots of practice pulling them out. I’ve had Jeepers tell me they like having me on the trail and will push it a little harder because they know I can get them out of trouble.

You definitely made the right choice - getting the most capable, heavy duty, off road vehicle.
