2006 Power Wagon new to forum

Just registered on here for some of the knowledge ,I’ve recently purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram Power Wagon....I’ve already experienced the flashing locker lights that seem to happen to most lol. The posts on here have helped me with that even though it still happens here and there. Recently had a problem with breaking the passenger side track bar bolt ...twice already! I’m thinking maybe an adjustable track bar would help but not sure. It looks to have around 3 or 4 inches of lift on it....and I recently put new wheels and 35s..... any thoughts on the track bar bolt would be appreciated.

Have you considered a track bar drop bracket with grade 8 bolts?

The older 3G's used 2 different size bolts on the trackbar. Forget the sizes. '08 and up used 2 bolts the same larger size. You might want to check into this. Post pic's when you can so that we can see what you have.

I might consider the drop bracket, but I haven’t seen one what’s a good brand? I’ve just seen adjustable track bars by carli,thuren , bd diesel I believe....Just picked up a grade 8 bolt and fastener from the dealership they said they were the same size on each side for my 06 hopefully they weren’t wrong ....my buddy has a semi repair shop and found a random grade 8 that fit that’s whats in there now.... thanks for the feedback will get some pics up soon

I also recently changed the rear diff fluid and cleaned the smartbar connection and both locker connections everything locked up and worked great after that for A little while now I can’t get them to lock ...I’m getting trouble code 1472 I think low circuit power to the rear axle I think it was .....Did the solenoid go bad? Or can weak battery cause this or bad connections.....the clips on the connectors are gone so not sure if it’s seating properly....I used to hear and feel the rear locker engage now I don’t hear it even when the module light goes solid sometimes.

The arms look straight with no bends in them. So they're not Carli or Thuren.

The rear locker has to lock before the front if you didn't know that. Double check the rear locker connection since you had it apart.

Oh yeah I’m not sure what they are but I was wondering if a carli or thuren track bar would help from breaking that track bar bolt......yeah I had to read the manual to figure that out finally lol it would lock up every once and a while and really good after I changed the diff oil but now it doesn’t want to I don’t even here the rear engaging anymore but thanks for getting back to me I appreciate it ......I mess with the connections and clean them here and there and always take the ground off before.....I got a code that said rear diff sensor circuit low performance so maybe a connection or the solenoid went out ? I hope not lol

The emergency brake light not the abs.....and the rear locker light keep coming on and flashing here and there so I don’t know if that points to a specific problem

On the e-brake light. Look at where the cable hooks into the pedal assy. Push the pedal down, then release it. See if the cable pulls the pedal all the way up. If the cable looks like it's not. It either needs adjusted or one of the 3 cables is sticking and needs replaced. I had this happen to me this year. It turned out to be the cable to the right e-brake.

To check the rear locker quickly. Jack up the rear axle and turn a tire to see the rotation. Then try in again with the locker engaged. You'll know if it's working or not pretty quick.

On the track bar. You're the first person that I know of to break a bolt there. The only thing I can thing of is over torquing. For the track bar replacements. I had the 1st gen of Carli track bars. And replaced a few frame mount bushings. The bushings was egg shaping over time and letting the bar knock back and forth. Replaced it with a 2nd gen Carli track bar. It has a different style of bearing/bushing on the frame mount. The Thuren bar started the have the same issue as the 1st gen Carli bar lately.

On your locker connectors. Use dielectrical grease inside the plugs. Also put the grease in your winch plug. On your smart bar sway bar. There is a plug on it on the right side. You need to remove the plug and put the grease around the gasket and on the pins. This unit also controls the lockers.

Also check your brake fluid level, there's a low fluid level sensor in the reservoir that will turn the E-brake light on if it's low on fluid.

the code I was getting was C1452 ......rear differential position sensor performance I believe

Check to see if the float inside the reservoir is stuck in the down position. If you can't get it to float on it's own you'll have to replace the reservoir.

I'm working on a solution for the locker problem, waiting for some components for the 3rd Gens.

Sounds good I’ll give it a try and I’d be interested if you find a solution I took a look at your homemade plug and play bypass and it seemed interesting but for now I guess I will keep messing with stuff maybe replace those pig tails to the locker connections and hope that does something, thanks again for the info.

Your rear locker actuator needs replacing the same thing happened to my 07, you have 2 options replace the factory unit I was able to get it done for around $650 by buying the part online and taking it to a reputable differential shop or hard wire the rear locker switch.
There may be some guys on here that can provide some instructions.

As far as the track bar here are my thoughts, 05-07 have 14mm bolts I still have mine. I drive my truck hard and never had a trackbar bolt break I had the drivers one bend slightly once but never break. You can do the upgrade to 08-09 16mm bolts but it sounds like the geometry is off on your front end somewhere.

Try replacing the bolts (either size) and getting an alignment and see it that helps. Have them set it to 0 toe and about 4.5 degrees of castor.

Also you have some kind of aftermarket control arm that are probably longer than stock this can push your axle and stock trackbar off center how much depends on how much longer they are, usually you never want more than 1" longer than stock even then you need an adjustable track bar (set to 39 1/4") to recenter your axle.
