2018 PW Newbee

Post by ArmageddonKaine » Tue Nov 13, 2018 8:18 pm

Hey All Just purchased a new 2018 PW. Previous Ford F150 owner and have been for years. Fell in love with the PW and went out and bought one. I am having a few issues, although not sure they are issues or learning curves. I will post in tech forum once I get established. I'm gonna try to add a pic of my new machine but not sure it will work.....

Step one, download the owners manual.
Step two, read the manual.

Most of the answers to your questions are probably in there (you’re not the only one). Lots of stuff doesn’t work the same way as your Ferd.

Welcome to the party!

I haven't been able to find a manual that is PW specific anywhere. If you know a place to download one let me know. The manual I got with it is a generic RAM manual and doesn't seem to get into things that are specific only to the PW.

Ditto. Stock manual is useless for 2017 Power Wagon owners, too.

Were there ever specific manuals???

The book you get with your new truck isn’t the manual. It’s an owners guide. The “quick start guide” if you will. The current manual is pushing six or seven hundred pages. If they printed it, it wouldn’t fit anywhere in the truck.

You can google it. “Ram 2500 owners manual”. They don’t make it hard to find.

Ok..I'll check it out tomorrow. I hope it will give me pointers on the locking axles because as of present they still do not lock no matter what i do, they just flash but never seem to engage. I hope it will give some instruction on what is going on.

Page 368 through 370 on the 2018 manual. Make sure you are below 3mph. Unless I am actually scrambling over something, I usually have to do some S turns to get the front to lock.

The 3 mph is a limiter, will not work above that speed, usually just flip the switch, turn the steering wheel, & creep forward. Helps if on dirt, gravel or surface where tires can slip a bit. Almost always works,,, If that doesn’t work for some reason try to search “lockers” thread,,,as it may be other issues,,,,good luck

I assume you know that currently the lockers only work in 4 Low. Without an owners manual you may have missed that little detail.

Thanks guys....I downloaded the manual. It pays to read. As some of u pointed out..It has to be in 4 low (did not know this). I put it in four low, moved forward about about 5km/h and BAM! Axels locked. Thanks so much. I love this truck.

It doesn’t always lock up like that, though it should. Don’t wait until you are trying to climb the obstacle and need them to turn on the lockers. Do it when you still have some short distance before you need them.
