Re: 18 PowerWagon Newbee
I love the truck overall but the transmission will not hold the truck at a slow pace on switchbacks without a heavy dose of braking. Wondering if anyone has geared down or if there might be another alternative. Low gear lets the truck accelerate to 25mph before kicking down to approximately 18mph before kicking back up to the 25mph.

Re: 18 PowerWagon Newbee
Are you running stock size tires (33s) or have you gone bigger? A few folks have upgraded from the factory 4.10gears to 4.88s or 5.13s, granted they are running 35s it 37s.LoneStar1962 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 11:06 pmI love the truck overall but the transmission will not hold the truck at a slow pace on switchbacks without a heavy dose of braking. Have you tried using Tow/Haul on the switch backs, should hold gears for longer.

Re: 18 PowerWagon Newbee
Not entirely sure what problem you're having here, and without knowing exactly what kind of grades you're driving and what gears you're using and tire size you have I really can't offer anything more helpful than "I don't have that problem". If there isn't a gear that's exactly right to hold the speed you want down a grade, you can choose to use the brakes, or a lower gear and give it some gas.LoneStar1962 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 13, 2018 11:06 pmI love the truck overall but the transmission will not hold the truck at a slow pace on switchbacks without a heavy dose of braking. Re: 18 PowerWagon Newbee
The truck is stock 33" tires, 4:10 gears, automatic transmission, the only configuration Ram offers in the PowerWagon. I'm in 1st gear low when I'm descending the switchbacks, it doesn't require 4X4 but 25mph is just a tad bit fast. The grade is probably about 7%. I do plan to tow approximately 9K with the truck but if it can't slow itself down empty without heavy braking, I'm not sure I want a 9K trailer behind me on that grade. I'm thinking maybe going with 4:56, 4:88 or 5:12 gears to help slow down the beast. I will ultimately go with 35" tires when I replace the factory Duratracs.

Re: 18 PowerWagon Newbee
Hello. I'm Wagon9027, I'm new here and I got a 2018 PW.
Always wanted to have one, love it a lot.
I'm the first owner and the truck is still mostly stock with the exception of 35x12.50r17 Toyo MT tires, S&B CAI, Ranch Hand grill guard. I want to know more about these trucks and get hands on with things I know I can do myself.
