2012 PW

Post by wagonmeister » Thu Sep 20, 2018 10:30 pm

Hi all. I had a 95 Ram 1500 for 14 years . I figured I would go all out this time and bought a new to me 2012 PW. I thought the 95 was hard on gas until I drove the PW. Oh well , you have to pay to play as I always say. I have it pretty much stock except for 35 inch Toyos. Only issue I have to deal with soon is the dreaded broken exhaust manifold bolts. Other than that she is good to go as my work truck.

Welcome to the forum Wagonmeister!
Lisle and other tool companies now make drilling templates to make that tough job a little easier.

Welcome to the site man, and congrats on the new rig!

Broken manifold bolts sound like an excuse for headers to me. ;)

Yup. Mine was fixed under warranty. If/when it goes again it is time for shorties!

Uh, what? More like it's time for catless longtubes and a tune.

That’s the only option I’m aware of. There are no short or mid-tube options for 10-present trucks that bolt in. There’s options for 10-13’s that require a torch and a sledgehammer.

JBA claims these will fit with moving the heater lines. Am I falling for their marketing hype? Have to admit, I didn't research it too deeply yet.

That’s interesting they say they fit 4x4’s. I remember calling BBK bad JBA a few months ago and one said nope the other said you need a hammer

Thanks for all the advice and recommendations. I decided book an appointment to have the local mechanic install a set of dorman manifolds. I don"t want to take a chance reinstalling the originals as they may be warped and there is no machine shop in my town. Apparently he has done dozens of dodges and ford manifold bolts.so I should be in good hands. I dont have the time or ambition to tackle the job myself. If it becomes an issue again ,I may look into shorty headers. While it"s in there I am going to get them to slap on a 18 inch Magnaflow so I can get a little rumble from that hemi.. :)
