Steering upgrades

Post by djgaston » Sat Apr 06, 2013 2:14 pm

If your Power Wagon steering is getting loose and you want to upgrade it, we have more steering parts than anybody else, and they are all the highest quality available. This isn't simply a bunch of parts put together just to make some money. All of these have been tested by us and are parts that we either do use or would use on our own trucks.

Borgeson steering box for 3rd gen Power Wagons
3 year warranty - unlimited miles
Quick ratio steering (better for wheeling and daily driving, it only takes 3 turns to go from lock to lock)
26% stronger than your factory steering box
We are the only company in the world that has multiple pitman arms for this box. The arm that comes with it is good for stock trucks, but it is flatter than the factory pitman arm. So we offer the factory pitman arm, machined to fit the Borgeson sector shaft. We also offer a drop pitman arm for the Borgeson sector shaft.

Borgeson steering shaft
5 year warranty - unlimited miles
Stronger design than factory with larger U joints
Installed with the Borgeson box, there are no modifications required to either one.
We recommend installing them together because the stock steering shaft usually wears out faster than the stock steering box. So if you are replacing the box, your steering shaft is probably worn out too.
Purchase at the same time and get a discount through our combo package.

Dodge Off Road Steering Kit
Available May 1st. Strongest steering kit ever made for Ram trucks, period.
.40" wall tie rod. .250" wall drag link. Uniball construction for tie rod ends; heavy duty heim joint for drag link ends.
Infinitely adjustable toe and drag link settings.
Totally bolt on - no drilling required.
Fits all trucks regardless of height, wheel size, etc.
Perfect geometry for bind-free steering.

Pics coming shortly. :)

DOR steering brace
Available May 1st. This is the only steering brace that only bolts to one side of the frame.
Prevents frame flex from pushing against your sector shaft.
Works with Power Wagon smart bars.

Pics coming shortly. :)

PSC hydro assist
The highest quality hydro assist kit available, from PSC.
We modify the kits to make them a bolt-on installation, no welding required.
Cylinder bolts up in your stock stabilizer location.
We can modify any steering box for hydro assist, including the Borgeson box.
We can also modify the new Mopar 4th gen steering boxes.

DOR sway bar end links
The strongest, highest quality sway bar end links ever made for any Ram truck.
1.25" OD DOM tubing. Reverse threaded ends.
Extremely high quality 3/4" FK heim joints, the same ones used on our track bars
Totally bolt-on install - no drilling required like many kits.

Pressurized steering stabilizer
This is a pressurized steering stabilizer that will help keep your truck driving straight down the road.
Less expensive, non-pressurized stabilizers only absorb feedback.
This shock puts just the right amount of pressure on the steering to keep it in line.
All aluminum body, Nitrate coated shaft, for years of rust-free use.
Totally rebuildable, and revalveable.
Billet clamp included for aftermarket steering setups, or 08.5 steering kits.

Purchase here: http://www.dodgeoffroad.com/store_DORparts.php

Free spin hub kit
Eliminate the unitized hub assembly
Replaces your factory hubs with rebuildable hubs
Stronger than factory setup
When hubs are unlocked, your front driveshaft will not spin in 2wd. This reduces vibrations and also reduces your parasitic load. Usually frees up 1 to 2 mpg.
Includes: wheel hubs, spindles, high strength Yukon 4340 chromoly outer axles, Warn premium locking hubs, Timken bearings, high quality seals, and all hardware including the bearings.
Replacement bearings available at most parts stores, so if you ever break down, you aren't stuck waiting on parts.
We can powdercoat the gold hubs to a more suitable gloss or flat black, or grey aluminum for you at no charge.

Steering cooler
Helps keep your steering cool. Rock crawling puts a huge strain on the steering system and fluid temperatures can quickly reach a critical point when the truck is not moving fast enough for the factory cooler to do any good (no air flow). These coolers are MUCH bigger and dissipate heat very quickly with minimal air circulation.
Can also be used as a transmission cooler for those who are towing heavy loads frequently.
Kit includes hoses, fittings, and hardware for installation.

If you have any questions about these products or your Power Wagon suspension or steering, we have 19 years of experience with coil-sprung Ram trucks (bought the very first 2nd gen our dealership got in back in 1994) and have been modifying them for off road use for over 10 years now. We are Power Wagon owners too - #000469.

NICE! Wish I would have known about you when I bought my stuff.

Question. I have the PSC steering box that is tapped already for hydro, and I have the ram too. I don't want to do any welding of brackets. Can I get the pieces from you?

Another question. How about 5.13's? For bothe axles. :D

Yup and yup!

I'll figure out a price for the bolt-on parts. It would be a clamp for the tie rod and some spacers for the cylinder to fit in the stock stabilizer location. Nice thing about the Power Wagon is we already have a skid plate there to protect the cylinder and lines.

On the gears, we work with a company that is a top level dealer for Yukon. So we sell all Yukon products at their minimum retail with free shipping. It's as low as anybody can go. :)

You can get the 5.13's for the front 9.25. But nobody makes them for the rear 10.5 that I know of.

I would like a price on new box, hydro assist, pitman arm, joint and shaft, and the new steering rods. Can't wait to get these parts. They sound great.

Nope, but I have an AAM 11.50 in the shop that they would fit nicely in. And we have lockers, and diff covers for those.

Hopefully someone will come up with 5.13's for the 1050.

5.13's would move my crawl ratio from 78.016:1 to 87.77:1.

Almost all of that is right on the site in the links above. The only thing not listed is the steering kit because it's not available just yet. Should have those ready go to May 1st and I'm still finalizing the price.

The box and shaft are discounted if you buy them together. You also get combined shipping on them. Those are $699 plus shipping.

The pitman arm can be added for $150 in either the standard or drop version (same price either way).

Hydro assist is $650 and can either use your current steering box (you'd have to take it out and ship it in) or we can modify the new Borgeson box before sending that to you. That's what most people do. So that is in addition to the price of the steering box, which is $460 by itself.

I'll update on the steering once I know the final price. We had some last minute changes to the production parts that ended up costing a LOT more than they were supposed to. I'm trying to see what else I can do to keep that from affecting the final price too much.

Thanks for the interest! Let me know if you have any questions.

Try it with 6.72 gears. That's what I'm putting in the V10.

That would be 114.971136:1. Starting to get into Uni-Mog territory now. Theirs are between 100:1 - 350:1 (depending on which trans & sub transmissions are in it) & are actually rated in meters per hour, NOT kilometers per hour !!! That is why they are so graceful in the nasty stuff & can actually move boulders the size of small cars.
