Big news
Big news
We just bought a 2005 Power Wagon.
LOTS of new Power Wagon specific parts on the horizon, from the most extreme suspension available, to the most bombproof steering available, with full protection all the way around the body.
I've had a lot of ideas in the works for a while now, but I needed a 3rd or 4th gen here to work off of and test fit parts anytime I want.
You can consider Dodge Off Road your "official" Power Wagon suspension, steering, and protection manufacturer.
By the way... Power Wagon #000469.

Re: Big news
Does this mean there is potential for a Power Wagon specific front bumper? I still have plans for a Rhoad Rhino order from you in March, but if you have some other ideas I'd like to see them.

Re: Big news
Thanks guys! Pretty excited. The 2nd gen will still be the beast, with 6.72 gears in 2.5 ton Rockwells locked front and rear, a v10, 41" Iroks, coilovers front and rear... The new PW will be it's little brother. But we will be building the PW's suspension to showcase what is truly possible in a truck like this, starting with 14" King 2.5 coilovers up front with long arms and then eventually doing a matching setup in the rear.
I am going to put the Road Rhino bumpers on and see if anything could be changed to improve the front for the Power Wagon, but I honestly don't see there being any changes. Still, we'll check it out and do some testing.
There are several companies that specialize in go-fast Ram trucks, but I have always felt more comfortable with crawling and trail rigs because of my wheeling experience. So while the DOR suspensions are built to handle anything, and they currently are being abused all over the world in various environments, the emphasis on what we build is suspension travel and ride quality using high end parts at reasonable prices, and not spending money on unneeded parts. I think this plan fits well with the Power Wagon line of trucks, so it felt natural to pursue this truck for further testing, fine tuning, and innovation. I'm more interested in the ability to go anywhere I want in any terrain, than going 90 mph through the desert. I can't even do 90 mph on the highways here. Lol
It's an exciting time! We'll also be moving into a much larger building this year and expanding our machine capabilities to produce more parts in-house to reduce costs even further.

Thank you, thank you, and thank you! We WILL be watching!
I haven't done much with my steering other than the 08.5 linkage, but I will watch for your system since my steering box feels a little odd at times. I'm thinking Borgeson and hydro... Hopefully now you can test your system on a PW.

Thanks guys! Glad to fill the niche.
Here is a pic of what we are starting with. It already has a cheap 6" lift on it which is coming off pretty quickly.
By the 2nd gen
The winch had been stolen but at least they left the mount, so we got a replacement winch to put in. I will definitely start a build thread as soon as we get started on the truck.

Re: Big news
Not sure on the brand; it's something cheap. We'll probably sell the short arms, coils, and the shocks (not that the shocks are worth much). The track bar drop bracket will stay I think, or I might upgrade to a different one, but I can get one either way. I need to figure out what to do with the rear suspension. It has a 4" block right now so I may just try to do coilovers back there too, but that may take longer. I'll let you know once we start working on it. I've already got new coils and arms ready to install.

Re: Big news
Yeah. The axle is pulled back so far, it sucks. Gotta get long arms on here ASAP. That's the worst part about buying a truck that is already lifted - I can't stand to drive around on this stuff. It's night and day compared to what I'm used to. Not to sound snooty or anything but it's just mind-boggling to me that people spend $1200 or more on this type of setup when they could spend just a little more and actually improve the suspension. Now I've got a bunch of parts to replace. This is the issue people get into. They think they are saving money by getting something cheap, then when the parts all have to come off one by one and get upgraded, they have now spent more than if they would have just bought a higher quality kit up front.
Oh well, it gives me a chance to really go through the truck.
