Road Rhino bumpers

***We do not sell Road Rhino bumpers any more as of July 2014.***

This thread can be deleted or just saved for the pics, I don't care, but the bumpers are not available any longer. You can get similar bumpers from the original Road Armor company.

These are Road Armor-style bumpers available at a much lower cost. They are all made from 3/16" steel and the brackets are 1/4" steel, these bolt right in and give you much better tire clearance up front, as well as the obvious protection they offer.

The bumpers come in several different configurations and packages. You can get just the base model bumper (no light bars), a base bumper with a pre runner bar (extra $125, single bar with two, three, or four light tabs), or a base bumper with the full guard (extra $500, protects grille and headlights and allows for 2, 3, or 4 lights to be mounted). All front bumpers have the ability to hold a winch, but for you PW owners I imagine you'll just run the line through a second fairlead and keep that part of the bumper clean. This will give you the ability to mount a small air tank inside the bumper, or other accessories. I've seen people mount air horns in there, for example. All front bumpers include four holes for fog lights (PIAA 510 or Warn IPF only without modification) and two D ring mounts.

The rear bumpers are all the same model and do not house a winch, but you do get to mount two PIAA backup lights (not included) for much-needed rear visibility. You also get two D ring mounts.

The bumpers can ship in bare steel or in a satin black powdercoat ($150 per bumper). We do offer discounts on combo purchases if you want a front and rear at the same time.

And the full guard:

These are also available as weld-it-yourself kits, where we ship the bumpers in large bent pieces and then you can weld them up and finish them. This route can save you quite a bit of money!

Nice detail, adding the scallops for the headlights on an '05. Most I have seen are straight across that area, to fit an '06-up.

Can you post a side view picture of the 3rd gen with the full guard? I'm curious about the look of the guard, and how low the bottom section of the bumper hangs. The "chin" most bumpers have to protect the intercooler on a diesel affects approach angle on some.

Are the clevis plates welded on in line with the attachment points?

I think I need to start leaving pics of these bumpers laying around the house as subtle hints...

Danny, I like the bumper with the full guard. What's the price on that? Do the additional bars add lots of weight? Also, I'm just wondering how to keep the lights bolted on without giving someone the ability to steal them in our neck of the woods. Lots of things around here grow legs. I think Mike, you would know what I mean.

And MIke, does that mean you will be getting one? (hint.. hint!)

Do these pics help? The bumper only hangs low enough to cover the body mount up front, in fact you can see the body mount if you look close in some straight-on pics. You gain quite a bit of clearance and the approach angle is much better than stock, even with the bumper sticking out just a little more. Unless you are trying to drive up a straight wall, the bumper won't hit before the tires do. Really though, the approach angle is much better than stock. The only bumper I've seen that would be better in that regard is the Mercenary bumper shown in the other thread.

And yes, the clevis mounts directly in line with the frame mount.

Image

Ace, the bumper with full guard in bare steel is $1395 (895 for the bumper, 500 for the guard) and the guard adds about 30 lbs to the weight. It's all 2" OD .120" wall DOM so it's pretty heavy, and very durable. As far as the lights go, I've seen some locking nuts that would probably keep most thieves honest. Of course if they want the lights that bad, they'll get them... probably messing them up in the process. All lights just use one bolt to hold them to the light bar so if a person can break or cut that bolt, the lights are coming off. It would not be easy to do. I'm glad I don't have to deal with that crap here. I leave my truck unlocked and the keys in it. 8-)

Thanks for the reply, Dan. I see what you are talking about. Very helpful.

I see that there is a difference in the 2 guards shown. The top tube on the late 3rd Gen, Inferno Red truck is pulled back toward the hood more than the early 3G truck. Or maybe it's just that the 2 horizontal tubes are more in line vertically on the early truck. Is this a change, or are both available?

Good eye! The second set of pics of the darker red, stock Ram were just some pics I found to show the angles you wanted. The bars in the middle aren't included on the full guard (those were added extra) and the lifted Inferno red Ram does have the guard a little more upright with fewer bends in the tubing. That's how the Road Rhino full guard is.

I have sold quite a few of these, but so far I have only had ONE customer send me photos after the install. So I rely on photos from Road Rhino and Road Armor (in addition to my own photos of the bumpers on my trucks) to show the different variations and angles, etc. There may be some very minor differences in those pics. Hopefully I can start getting more customer photos, but most of my orders are call-ins from the site from people who barely use the Internet. So I don't want you to think I'm trying to be dishonest or anything. I have CAD models of all of the bumpers but it's not the same as showing them mounted on a truck. :-)

You guys are going to be hard on my pocket book! That silver 4th gen with the Pre Runner bar is bad ass! I'm thinking I'll be getting a front/rear set in March or April next year and then have them coated with Line-X.

Yeah that's a sweet truck! Line X is a great option on these... and if you scratch the bumper up, it's easy to reapply Line X to that one spot instead of having to redo the whole thing like with powdercoat or paint.

I wanted to update this and say that all bumpers from now on will not have the Road Rhino logo cut out in the front lower section. That is going to be a smooth piece of steel for more strength. This also applies to the Weld It Yourself kits, which have been going out without with logo for a few weeks now.

Any chance you got a picture of the new setup? It's still going to be a few months before you get my order, but I'm planning a front/rear bumper for March.

No pics yet, but I have about 10 bumpers that will be here tomorrow or Monday and I can get pics then.

Or I can Photoshop any of the pictures above in about two seconds and show you what they look like now. Lol. Where the logo is, it's gone. That's the only change.

Sorry Mike, but that's not true. I'm not sure who else sells these, so I don't want to come across as arrogant or anything, but that is simply false. Look at the first two pictures in this thread. The fender liner is hanging down below the Road Rhino front bumper. There is a very obvious ground clearance gain there. The middle of the bumper is also higher, as it sits just below the frame rails at the lowest point. The stock bumper hangs down several inches below that, even with the air dam removed. The extra ground clearance gains are pretty obvious if you pull up pictures of both the Road Rhino bumper, and the stock PW bumper, and look at them side by side.

Are we talking about the same bumpers? As far as I know, I'm the only Road Rhino dealer in the country, unless someone else got on board recently.

well i don't like the dealer anyway. they'ld try and sell you swamp land if they could get away with it. i'll have to look into this bumper some more because i absolutely hate how low the 4th gen pw front bumper sits soo low. my old 3g pw front bumper was night and day compared to this one. i'm thinking i'll replace it when i tear it up on a rock.

oh you are the only dealer in the country? hmmmm....i wonder what kinda stunt my dealer is pulling on me!
