2019+/5th Gen Air Dam Removal

Post by btsbarton » Sat Feb 08, 2020 7:27 pm

Easy peasy. About 14 nuts and 4 bolts easily removed with a stubby ratchet, 10mm socket, and short extension.
License plate bracket will only be held on by two plastic expanding clips after dam removal, so I just bolted the plate straight to the bumper. I might try and do something better about it in the future. [s]Snow Plow (???) brackets [/s] Active air dam bracket seem to be low and vulnerable now... might have to remove them.

Those mounts hanging down are called compatibility brackets. They are part of your NTSB tested collision system. They can be cross purposed for plows and other things, but in actuality, they are designed to keep low profile cars from going too far under you in a head on impact.

I used rocks and a sawzall to get mine off. Well, 2/3rds of mine.

Mine are actually pretty beaten up from hitting racks and such.

Looks good it should have come that way from the factory, do those compatibility brackets unbolt and come right off it's hard to tell from the picture?

As far as I can tell they should come right off, two thru bolts on the frame each.

Yes they unbolt. They’re usually quite tight.
