What did you do to your PW this week?

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

Finally installed my locker bypass. Works great!

Figured out why my headlight was bouncing around...
...the bolt behind the grille was missing. The other side was finger loose. Now the lower mount is broken.

Removed the boot from my airbox(while I had it out to mount the box for the locker bypass). Trying to come up with a better way to suck air, not water. Sounds kinda good when I floor it!

Found another missing bolt on my slider.

I noticed my winch is leaking... no wait, my steering box. Actually it is oil all over everything from having the dealership do oil changes(strictly for warranty purposes).

I'm just happy to catch these small things before they become big things!
Really good catch for sure! Unfortunate that the stealerships don’t take pride in their work anymore.

Just seeing if these bulbs help brighten things up. Anybody else hate pulling off the plastic cowl and the grill just to change bulbs. Let's see...one of the middle grill clips busted...other half busted and I was being gentle. The passenger side white slider clip that you reach from the wheel well broke because it must have slid back down a little when I pulled the light out. Luckily there's enough clips and bolts that everything still holds together.ImageImage

What's the rubbing like? I've been wanting 40s but I don't want to deal with the fenders. Thinking these mini bfg 39s might be the way to go.

Got these heavy bois installed today. They work great as a step as well, just as I hoped. I will need to add some grip tape though so they aren’t slick when wet.

Hint, it's not the front that you need to be worried about, even though everyone seems to think that's where all the problems are. Don't need to move the axle, or any of that crap. If you have a high clearance, the trimming is about as much as a 37's, maybe a touch more. And the rubbing is the same.

It's the rear of the truck. Think about the movement of the rear axle at full stuff.

The Diablosport tuner really woke my PW up. Feels like I'm driving another truck. Sent some logs to Hemifever to let him do some adjusting on the tune.

The tuner isn't the easiest thing to use tho. It has a learning curve to it.

How many tunes from Hemifever do you get? And I’ve heard people saying they saw 2mpg increase on highway driving. Have you noticed any increases?

The number of tunes. I don't know. Never asked. The truck feels a lot strong on the 87 octane tune I have in now. Once the tank of gas is gone. I'll fill it up with 93 octane and try that tune.

It's shifting better. The one condition I had was when I was slowly down to almost a stop, and then speed back up. The tranny seemed to hunt, and had a delay in the response to the gas pedal. That's all gone now. Doesn't feel like I have to mash the gas pedal all the time.

I think your 3rd gen is reflector type light fixture which works great with LED. My 4th gen is projector sport package fixture. It is better suited to bulbs that direct or light appears forward through the projector lense(halogen or HID). So, just doing the halogen upgrade bulb for now $55. HID upgrade from HLR is like $300.

Phillips X-Treme Vision is the prevailing halogen upgrade for the standard quad lamps. Not my recommendation, but recommended by people who live and breath automotive lighting. The bulbs have short life though.

Agree, major PITA to change bulbs.

Image
If you get a chance to flex the front can you get a picture of the clearance between the tire and the top of the front inner fender? My 40's just rub the underside of the airbox but I cut out the outer portion of the fender liner so my inner fenders are flat.

How do you like the hydro assist?
