New problem electrical 2018 PW
New problem electrical 2018 PW
So I was driving and 4 wheel drive shift in progress came on randomly, then service electronic brake message came on and then traction control light came on. I dropped it off at the dealer and they are now replacing the electrical harness for the smart bar I believe. It's on order. If anyone has this issue here is a heads up I ll let you guys no what happens also my friend is the garage Forman so that helps.
Re: New problem electrical 2018 PW
Random 4wd shift in progress on my 16 was the T-case shifter position switch.
I had that stuff with the traction control when it was new and they just re-initialized the ABS module. Never happened again.

So the problem was fixed by replacing the smart bar/swaybar electrical harness that was not properly installed by the factory and became corroded at the connector. Problem in gone and everything is working perfect.

Don't count your chickens before the eggs hatch. My '16 has the "4WD shift in progress" issue and it has yet to be resolved. Dealer just reflashed PCM or other module. Lousy dealer anyway and doubt any Ram dealer around here is worth spit.
I'll eventually get around to swapping out parts until it goes away.

These new trucks, i don't know... My 2019 1500. Oh boy at the what ifs.. Everything is going to shit... This is why I cherish the 2010. I've think that's the last year, just before it all went to hell.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

So I have put a couple hundred miles on the truck and no problem so looks like we are in the clear for now.

Ssiannino did this problem start slowly and get worse???
While cruising down the road (in town) I had that same message pop up on my 2017 PW a couple days ago. It’s the first time I’d seen it and then towed the boat to the lake and back the next day and didn’t see it again.
My truck had also dinged and flashed something about a throttle sensor and cut the engine power. Had to pull over, restarted the truck and never seen that again. Then before the “4wd shift in progress message” my truck dinged, I watched the check engine light flash a few times and shut off. So I’ve had my fair share of odd ball alarms. Just wondering if this is all related to the electrical harness???

Hi the problem started with a random 4 wheel drive shift in progress message. Then a couple days later traction control light cam on. Brought it in to the dealer my friend is the garage Forman and fount the smart bar harness corroded because it was not installed correctly from the factory so far haven't had a issue since

Okay thank you. At least I know the signs for one problem. I’m hopeful it’s just a random electrical gremlin that I can deal with.
