6th Recall WTF ?

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

6th Recall WTF ?

Post by JD 500 » Wed Feb 20, 2019 3:13 pm

Just received my "Vehicle Health Report" by email. Says there is an "Urgent Recall" except they have no parts to fix it. WTF ?
Also says the recall date was JANUARY 25. Today is February 20, and I have not received a letter like the five previous recalls.
Recall says the issue can lead to a loss of steering. Seems like steering a 3+Ton , doesn't stop very fast truck might kinda be important.
I read the post about this recall, and seems nobody is all that concerned ? Am I missing something ?
With each recall, I have lost time at the dealer one at a time. 5 trips so far and now another one.
How can a fairly mature platform need so f'n many recalls ?

Don't get me wrong, I know if it were a Gov't Motors product, there wouldn't even be recalls, but this is getting ridiculous isn't it ?

We've had 3 on the 2019 1500 so far. Little petty bullshit that I could do myself, it's mostly for them to cover their ass. Unfortunately, you have to have the dealer correct the issue or "you're on your own"...

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Be thankful, in years past manufacturers used to drag their feet until lots of deaths and stuff before fixing peoples problems. A lot has changed with regulations and they are now being way more preemptive.

It’s just for the two drag link jam nuts and adjustment sleeve. Check to make sure yours are tight and there is no obvious thread damage and you’re good to go.

My 2018 had 6, all software flashes. Seems a little silly, but if it helps with reliability.....

Thanks everybody. If you guys with 2018's and 2019's can put up with it, I suppose I can too.

I will say the truck had done everything I asked of her with no complaints. By the time I hit my current PW mileage on the last chevy (2008 2500) I'll ever own, I'd probably had 10 warranty repairs.

So just went out and crawled under the PW in the driveway, No apparent damage to threads but the Passenger side nut was loose.?

If the steering wheel is straight, tighten them both up nice and tight and go have a beer.

That is an incorrect procedure!!! First you have a few Beers then tighten the nut....
