Procharging my PW

Post by 17PowerWagon808 » Mon Feb 18, 2019 1:51 pm

Aloha from Hawaii. I'm in need of some advice for future plans to my baby. My plans are to install ARH long tube headers, a procharger, tune, ECM, and exhaust. I was planning on doing headers and exhaust first. Do I require a tune? Then procharger ECM, tune all at once. I'd love to hear everyone advice please. 🤙🏼

A tune would be great, but I suspect you'll be fine running LTH and Exhaust. Lots of people who have already done that without a tune.

But with a tune, you'll get the be performance with the setup.

ProCharger is going to tell you their kit is just a simple bolt on but it isn't. At a very minimum you need to delete MDS which involves swapping lifters and cam. Leave the headers and exhaust in a box and install them when you pull the heads for the HC lifters.

Diablo tune. Was going to take it to a local speed shop for tune and dyno.

I’ll be in the market for one soon. My transmission is being rebuilt now and I’d rather tune it afterwards to increase line pressure from whatever RAM has programmed stock.

Procharging my PW

I have 94k miles on the truck. Supposedly a reverse servo or part failed. A local performance shop is rebuilding it with upgraded components and a billet valve body. Upgraded clutch packs, converter and sonnax internals.

I may not need a trans tune. A sonnax line pressure booster in the build. I still plan to research tuners.

To get full potential from the headers and exhaust you will need a custom tune. More than likely will not notice any "seat of pants" power without it. It will sound amazing though. Doing this in reverse would make more sense IMO. If you install the procharger kit first, you will already have the handheld tuner and cracked PCM. The "canned" tune should work fine(it will just throw a bunch of fuel at it to keep it safe) till you add headers. Then you will already have a tuner to either data log with and send to email tuner or take to tuner shop. Word of advise, completely tear the engine down and install forged pistons and upgrade fuel system.....
