New Ignition Wires?

Post by trk4sale » Thu Jan 10, 2019 11:50 am

I have about 70K miles on the truck so it's about time to change the spark plugs again and I was thinking about new wires also. Does anyone have, or know about using short wires instead of the over the top stock set up?

I'm not looking for performance gains, just routine maintenance and maybe a cleaner look.

The Hemi has coil-on-plug ignition. How would those work? I think those are for a totally different application.

I have not heard of the wires wearing out on a Hemi. It isn’t like a distributor system where the wire carries the direct ignition load, in our trucks the wire carries the low voltage pulse to the coil and then it gets stepped way up in voltage.

The 05 and I think the 06's have short plug wires.

They're actually kinda long, and they all run through the fuckhuge tray over the engine, under the air intake. Wires crisscross from one coil pack to another cylinder.

The 03-05 5.7 Hemi's had the crossover wires. 06 and up have the same coil firing both plugs for that cylinder.
