Transmission Problem

Post by sparkn1855 » Thu Dec 20, 2018 8:36 pm

I bought a 2017 Power Wagon 20 days ago. I have loved the truck so far. Today something strange happened...I backed out of a parking spot, put it in drive and after a few feet, it felt like it jumped out of gear. It wouldn't move at all. I put in in reverse and it backed up no problem. I put it back in drive and the same thing happened. I backed into a parking spot, killed it and restarted it. The check engine light came on. I put it back in drive and it did it again. I parked it and called the tow truck. It's on it's way back to the dealership now. The truck only has 22k miles on it. Has anyone ever seen an issue like this?

Might be linkage on the trans or T-case not fully engaged. The bushing on the T-case linkage in the newer trucks can be a problem as they are soft and don't have a retainer clip.

If the T-case had slipped into neutral, he wouldn’t have a forward or reverse gears.

OP, I’ve never experienced anything like your issue, but hopefully you have some warranty protection to get it taken care of. I’m interested to hear how this works out.

Switch on solenoid pack failed. The dealership said they don’t have many problems with these transmissions, but this is a common one when they do.

There is a recall on the solenoid pack. I just had my truck in for several recall's and that was one of them.

I had mine done on the 16 too, but I thought that covered a narrow range of trucks.

Guess the supplier is still having problems with them.
