2013 Again?

Post by vanished » Tue Oct 30, 2018 3:04 pm

So... How many 'old timers' do we still have around?

Cleaning out my laptop I found this... What old is new again - 2019 will be same as 2013 was!

Nevermind... 'this' was a .pdf of the 2013 PW calendar that we used to do...

Damn... How can I attach a .pdf?

It’s the last year of the 5.7L Hemi and control arm front, leaf sprung rear, but has the new interior of the 2014+ trucks. A good year to buy if you prefer the older suspension.

It’s also only one year away from the 6.4L Hemi and current suspension. If you prefer that, it might be worth looking a little longer to find a 2014+ in the same price range.

Good Info. Thanks! I like that it is still kind of incognito power wagon looking compared to all the flashy graphics of later year models. Not liking that it has almost 100k on it already though.

The Laramie trim package (what you’re looking at here) was offered through 2016.

The Tradesman trim package (work truck trim, bare bones interior, no flash exterior) is still being made, but they’re less common.

The 2015-2016 and 2017+ exterior graphics are vinyl decals that can be removed if you don’t like the look, then you’re just left with the smoked headlights, grill and other minor exterior trim pieces that hint that it’s a Power Wagon, and all of those can be swapped over to other styles as you see fit.

The 13’s still had the SLT package that my ‘11 has. You get into all the accessories without getting into the chrome and leather of the Laramie.

If you want to go full hoon, the 10-13 trucks are the way to go. The new trucks will never be able to do what the older trucks could with suspension. These years have lots of mechanical parts that wear out and lots of aftermarket support for those parts. The electrical systems are simpler than the newer trucks and more reliable.

The 14+ trucks are much more reliable overall. From the staring line they basically fixed all the issues of the previous years, much more reliable steering, suspension, Powertrain. The issues tend to shift towards being finicky electrical/computer issues that are more of just an annoyance, rather than mechanical components wearing out.

There are some early 2017's with the laramie looking exterior also. Just not very common.
