2012 5.7 oil filter part number

Post by chrisjameswagner » Mon Oct 22, 2018 4:48 pm

Crazy, been trying to find this oil filter and been to the dealer and aftermarket and keep getting handed what appears to be the wrong sized filter. Wrong size meaning the circumference is to wide and wont fit past the small guard that is to the bottom of the filter connection. Filter should relatively narrow or thin.

Does anyone know what the correct part number is for mopar oil filter?

Thanks in advance

The 2008-2013 5.7 PW takes Mopar # 4884899AC or MO-899 on the box. The 05-07 PW takes Mopar # 5281090AB or MO-090 on the box. Sometimes these get mixed up the 899 is smaller in diameter than the 090.

Thanks Coder. Gonna run this by the parts department tomorrow and see what they hand me this time. The filter in the pic looks accurate for what's on the truck.

Climbed under and was able to make out the filter number on the truck. It says 50048919. Now trying to find on line... #'s different than yours Coder. its a 2012.

The difference between those 2 filters..............thread size. Old one is 3/4". New one is 22mm. So, if one is easier for you to get than the other, for $8, you can get the other adapter, so in a pinch, you could run either. They just thread into you oil filter housing. As you can see, the nut on adapter is thin. I have this on my oil filter cooler adapter as well & just bought the appropriate size socket at HD & put the tip on the belt sander & made it nice & flat, to grip tight without slippage.

The part number I gave you is correct the part number you gave me looks like its off of an exported mopar filter see link below.

They might be the same with different part numbers for U.S. vs UK markets, who knows what else is different.

I bet your dealer got the UK version cheaper and is selling those instead.

Wal-Mart has the MO-899's for a good price I'd probably get the next one there.
