I have a brand new set of remote control Warn fog/flood oval shape lights from like 2010. The nice thing is no need to run wires into the cab, and much like my wireless airbag compressor, you can activate while you are working on trailers, ramps etc.
My initial thought was mount the lights (about 2.5" high) below the bumper (bolted to the mask) left and right of the hitch, using the theory that he spare hangs low enough to protect them for projectiles and the receiver sticks out further back prevent dropping on the lights and crushing their aluminum/glass bodies.
However, when I mocked them up, it looked like it would be a challenge to get the hitch pin in and out. By the time I spread them out 4" or so it seems like they would be really exposed.
Considered mounting them on top of the bumper under the factory lights but with no step cut out (what was Ram thinking?, My '05 Chevy had the step cut out.) I use that to step when the tail gate down. Other option is on the factory step below the license plate but wasn't sold on the appearance.
So what has everyone else done? I am actually ok with forward lights since I put the AEV Procal in (fogs on with high beams).
An override on the factory backups would work, but seems like that would be way more painful. If I am jacking with factory wires, would rather do locker bypass.

Mounted them on the trailer hitch tube. Came out pretty clean. I couldn't figure out how to cleanly do the off shape in the bumper. If I damage them, I can always replace them with LEDs that fit in the bumper. The hard part was the wiring and that's all done now.
Remote control is cool. I triggered them off the accessory circuit so they go off with the ignition but can be turned on any time the truck is on. Same as with my compressor.

Re: Clever Rear Light Mounts??
See PW pics below. I mounted four Hella units under the rear bumper on a piece of steel channel bolted in the center where the hitch ball would go on the bumper (bolt and washer visible where center cap is missing). The oval lights are work lights, each with two 55W halogen capsules, pattern is wide and high for broad illumination. The small bullet units are Euro projector low beams that throw a narrower beam down the road for backing up in the boonies. All are easily adjustable up-down and side to side, and with (6) 55W lamps I have all the light I need. None of the units is below the level of the hitch so dragging is seldom a problem. On my Tundra, I mounted a pair of Ridgid LED work lights cut into the rear bumper as in the pics above. Not wild about the results because the LEDS don't seem to throw as much usable light as the Hellas, even though specs say they should be fine, and because they are let into the face of the bumper they are not adjustable.
