Tradesman/power wagon vs power wagon snowplow prep
Tradesman/power wagon vs power wagon snowplow prep
Hi guys so I ordered a 2018 power wagon and you can’t get the plow prep package with it which is a 220a alternator and skid plate. I ordered it with the dual alternator and we know it comes with skid plates. So if you order a tradesman with the power wagon suspension you can get the plow prep package. Anyone know why

Because the snowplow prep group includes heavier front springs and the PW comes with linear rate 2" lift coils.

Yes. Actually I believe they (RAM) advise against putting a plow on a power wagon. Just like putting a camper in the bed.Reloaderguy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 14, 2018 9:43 pmBecause the snowplow prep group includes heavier front springs and the PW comes with linear rate 2" lift coils.

So doesn’t the power wagon package on the tradesman include the same suspension that’s on the power wagon.
That’s how they are advertising it from Ram I haven’t found anything to say otherwise.

The Power Wagon comes lifted. You can't have a lift and heavy duty plow springs.

Re: Tradesman/power wagon vs power wagon snowplow prep
There are people on this forum that have added snow plows to their trucks( just do a search), you don’t need the snow plow package to make it work. That being said, you can’t have the power wagon package and the snow plow package, try building a regular powerwagon, snow plow prep is not an option there either.
Edit. So I understand what you are asking now, when you build the tradesman powerwagon it DOES allow you to select the snow plow prep. Not sure why, calling ram is prob your best bet.

You may find this shocking, but Ram routinely has mistakes on their website, including the build&price tool.

If you build a tradesman and add the power wagon package you can add the snow plow prep package also.
Just did it on the ram truck website. That’s why I am asking about this, ram states that the suspension is the same

I don't think the dealer interface will allow the combination. Hence, it can't be ordered
But you can certainly get a price on that imaginary configuration.

Re: Tradesman/power wagon vs power wagon snowplow prep
Just checked my dealer interface. Snow Chief Group and Snow Plow Prep Group are both Tradesman options however are not allowed with the PowerWagon Package. PowerWagon comes with everything in both so they are unavailable. Does not show any difference for suspension on my screen.

Re: Tradesman/power wagon vs power wagon snowplow prep
The PW has taller, softer springs. The PW sits about 1.5" to 2" taller the a standard 2500. For the 3G's There was 27 different spring combinations for the PW depending on which options was chosen.DirtyOffroad wrote: ↑Fri Aug 17, 2018 10:16 amJust checked my dealer interface. Re: Tradesman/power wagon vs power wagon snowplow prep
Mfg says: snow plow pkg no worky with PW due to softer springs. People have done it though with no issues......unless you have a dealer that is just looking for a reason to void your warranty, like mine.
They tried to void my lifetime powertrain warranty because of all the top shelf (at that time) aftermarket parts i put in the front end. I laughed at them & said first of all, i did that because of the shit factory parts they used, second of all, so i would have some long term reliability, 3rd of all, they have NOTHING to do with the powertrain. I also went through that again when they had to replace my rear locker mechanism. Owner finally said it would be covered under the lifetime powertrain warranty, but if i had a lift or bigger tires on it, they would have voided it for sure & used that as the excuse not to cover it. As it was, I had to threaten to get Channel 4 "Call 4 Action" to show up if they wouldn't cover it.
