10 Things to Love and 10 Things to Hate
With 8 months and 18K under my belt, here are my top 10 things to hate, and to love about the Power Wagon.
Things to Hate;
10. MPG
9. No rear step system
8. Front bumper needs angled ends like other modern 4x4s
7. Ground Clearance under some chassis parts
6. Garage Door opener barely transmits
5. No rear tail gate dampener, very odd
4. No Electrical out lets in bed. VERY Ghetto. Fridge is a PIA
3. Tire size for truck is too small
2. Weight, would be far more capable with even a small weight savings along with MPG
1. Dura Trash Tires don't hold air
Things to Love:
10. Fit and Finish
9. Dual Alternators
8. 8.4 Uconnect
7. Accepts 35s from factory
6. Heavy duty drive-train basis
5. Solid Towing capacity for an off-road truck
4. Sexy Looks
3. Only Factory Sway Bar Disconnect
2. Only Factory Dual Lockers
1. Only Factory Winch

I have an 18 that is a week old. The garage transmitter worked better than the factory liftmaster one!

My garage transmitter works great. I switched out a garage door opener and function was buggy when used close to the original remote. It's not the truck's fault garage doors are kind of crappy.

Yea, i get 12! ....on 37s
If I start listing Mods I would have to change the list daily

I get 15-16 on the freeway out of my 16. The 07 gets 12 going downhill, with a stiff tailwind.

He didn’t say he gets 10mpg... its #10 on the list
I get 13mpg on 37’s in my ‘11. But that just goes with having the best year of Power Wagon.

I can get 18 on the highway. But combined average is around 14. I drive up a mtn to get home. I look at it this way, if they reduced weight it would also be more capable off-road. Its not just about MPG. My wife's 2015 Four runner opens the garage door perfectly every time. Mine barely opens it and only when next to it.

My list of things to hate:
1. The stock Duratracks suck.
Things to love:
Same 10 as yours...
This is my 3rd Power Wagon so I knew all your things to hate were part of the deal before I bought it....

Re: 10 Things to Love and 10 Things to Hate
MPG is what I love? 15 mpg average the last 8000 miles. Compared to my much more aerodynamic and lighter, and 100 HP less Chevy, that's impressive. It got 12-13. On 285s, not the 315s I have now.
Only thing I hate is the transmission shifter. Both that you can't lock it into a gear, and that you can't shift manually without the buttons. A L or some other setting where you could shift would be helpful Or just put a G56 in it and be down with it. Tow Haul button location, same issue, but I am learning. Just sucks to take your eyes off the road to find a critical switch.
Would like the swaybar to unlock above 18 mph but that's not a hate. Just a wish. With 2WD low switch, I have pretty much got around all the other nannies.
Rear winch options would be nice.
Big love for me. I can run 315s (35"s) with chains. Stock. Factory winch. Lockers. Great interior. Decent transmission. Would be nice to have a 4:1 low range like my 2nd Gen.

Re: 10 Things to Love and 10 Things to Hate
Not for nothing (Lord knows I have had truck issues as well) but many of those on the hate list are really easily remedied. None of us bought one for mpg---that's a fact. The nature of physics. I know it sucks, spending so much on a truck & then having to put more money into it. Tires--- you can fix that easily. tailgate can be fixed for around $30. Fridge in bed can be fixed for $45 (no factory wiring would be heavy duty enough anyways), I just did this in our 4 runner & an doing it in the PW as well. Use the ARB wiring/plug install kit, it is HD. Exhaust can be easily cut-taken to muffler shop-expanded so it becomes a slip on, & clamp it back in place for inspections.FordyceCreekTrail wrote: ↑Sat Jul 07, 2018 11:03 amWith 8 months and 18K under my belt, here are my top 10 things to hate, and to love about the Power Wagon.

But yeah, it should have better off-road bumpers for sure & rear should have tow hooks as well.

Re: 10 Things to Love and 10 Things to Hate
I like things from the factory to start out right. Now I will say the Fourrunner outlet is a POS and wont really run the cooler. I only have the ARB outlet in my 1996 Montero right now.
That is part of the problem with the Fourrunner. It will be 20K plus to get it on the better trails. It needs EVERYTHING, lift, tires, front locker, bumpers, gears, winch.....And still no solid front axle. Some day I will do it for a trail rig. But honestly a Jeep will likely be our next trail rig for retirement some day. Its just easier to start with as much as you can.
