If the 1500 ram boxes don’t have this problem, can you get a pair of lids from one of them and swap them over?

The majority of the half tons have the extra short box. Those wouldnt work. I would guess the one with the full size short box are identical to our trucks.

The cover has been off twice now so not worried about paint, and it should have a flex additive in the paint regardless. I paid my way through school in a custom car shop so I still remember a few things. The problem I have with this whole thing is that their answer is to send the truck out to a paint and body shop for two days to have them do it. This time I can say without a doubt that they didn't do shit while they had it for a full day. There was no evidence of extra adhesive or tape. I am a PE/PM in industrial I&E so I am in and out of plants all day and some have requirements where the vehicle has to be on file as well as the stupid high double coverage insurance policies I have to carry so it's not like I can bring in a rental (and NO I'm not driving a work truck for two days in Houston in the summer). Sounds horrible but I have a significant amount of ass time in a vehicle every single day which is why I bought what I wanted this go round. Guess I'll pull it this weekend and do it myself. Just extremely disappointed and to add insult to injury I have the Mopar lifetime powertrain warranty as they had to offer it since I had with my last truck (2009 when they were trying to build customer base). I absolutely want, need and use the boxes to store all of the tools, meters, FRC clothes, etc. that I used to have in the cab and was always moving when I needed to bring a client to lunch. They are awesome.

Ive really only heard of the few people on here with the problems. I bet if I googled it I would find more.

Yeah that definitely does suck. I was a little mad at first because my drivers side one sticks up like a 1/16-1/8” higher than the bed when closed, but hell I can live with that as long as it doesn't start falling aprt!

The 1500’s have shorter boxes and a different design, the lids won’t swap. They all will end up warping eventually so the body lines don’t line up. I truly believe if they had a latch on either end instead of just one in the center, 95% of the warping and tape issues would go away. A spring pushing on the center instead of the current design would help too. It’s a long piece of plastic held from a central point and pushed upon at the outer edges by a rubber gasket and spring, add a little summer heat and of course it’s going to have issues. I’m curious to see what refinements, if any, come on future Rambox trucks.

I can't believe these issues haven't been addressed yet - they have been making ramboxes for years now...

The only half ton with the short 5.5’ box is the full crew cab model, which can also come with the full size 6.5’ box like our trucks have. The short 4 door and regular cab come with the same size box we have also.

Same thing with the exhaust manifold bolt issue on the 5.7.

Never once have I seen a long bed 1500 with Ramboxes, is it even an option? I see the short bed crew cab Rambox configuration all day long, mostly on Rebels.

Yes they are an option, but they are rare as hens teeth to find on a lot. Hell, just finding a full size shortbox with no ramboxes is rare.
