Super Bowl Commercial

Post by FordyceCreekTrail » Mon Feb 05, 2018 4:42 pm

Frankly I love Ram Super Bowl commercials. But apparently this one is controversial. I actually missed it but just saw it on TFL truck.

I didn’t get to see all of the commercials, but more than half of the ones I did see were social justice BS. I prefer entertaining super bowl ads, not liberal agenda getting rammed down my throat

That MLK commercial was great, and anyone who bitches about it is a total snowflake...

First, the same people bitching about it being used to sell trucks didn't even know that speech existed in the first place, let alone had they heard it before. Just bringing it to light and exposing it to millions of Americans is a win in and of itself.

Second, the commercial focused on helping people, "Serving Others", not selling a truck, unlike Hyundai using cancer victims to sell their cars, which was disgusting to me.

Third, Ram got full approval from the MLK family/estate, and donated to his charity as their payment for using his words, so it did more good there.

Honestly, I liked all the FCA commercials, but the best one was the last Wrangler commercial driving through the pond, then up the waterfalls... Total badass vehicle doing what it was built for.

I'll also say that the "liberal agenda"/social justice commercials weren't all bad. Again, many of them focused on helping others, being kind, and tolerance. I don't think that's liberal, or conservative, just human. As a matter of fact, I'd argue that tolerance is more a conservative value than liberal (just watch all the leftist groups rioting). Christians, Jews, Hindi's, Sikh, Buddhists, etc., all preach the golden rule in some form or another, which is really all those commercials were stressing. I didn't have any issues with them.

That said, I didn't catch all the commercials, so if there was some other one that said to give your money to the government, or some other leftist BS, I'd shun the hell out of that...

Best SB commercial this year has to go to the Tide ads; those we genius.

Best SB commercial ever to me was still the "Year of the Farmer" Ram ad...

Not a single one of the snowflakes complaining about this ad know anything about Serving. The ad is about RAM Nation not selling trucks.

Serving, I guess, is a matter of perspective. I certainly don't consider myself to have "served" anyone, except myself. I "served" for 8.5 years ( 3 yrs active US Army & the rest in the NYANG) But.....I got paid for it. I also "served" for 28 yrs as a NYS Correction Officer, but....I got paid for that too. Many people I met in the Army said they are NOT "serving" for the money but because it is the right thing to do......... I would ask them if I could have their money then......lol....they all said NO.

IMHO, "serving" is something done free of charge & no compensatory things or services are received for doing it. But that's just me.

Not very politically correct these days TwinStick, but you are correct. We have carried the serving thing way too far. Cops become cops because after 20 years they retire with a pension, medical, ect and start a new career all over again. My dad did that in the Air Force. Now to pensions plus Social Security, pretty nice. Not happening in the private sector. Those that give there lives deserve our respect. But is the average person serving? No. But the commercial showed how you could serve as a Mother, a volunteer, ect, ect. So I think it was more about serving humanity and working hard.

Yep. Regardless of it being a RAM commercial, to me it was good. Could have been Ford or Chevy. Didnt matter. When a tear almost comes to my eye, I get the point.

Yep, I’m with you Twin.

Getting to bring somebody back or cut someone out of a car over the ledge of a road definitely makes you feel good inside, but I didn’t work on a fire department for other people. 9 years volunteer, paying for my own gas and uniforms, it wasn’t serving, it was fun and I did it because I loved it.

But hey, the new trend is to form a strong reaction to everything you see or hear these days, so might as well just get offended :duel:
