Gear Ratios / Tires - No Procal

Post by DirtyOffroad » Tue Jan 09, 2018 2:02 pm

So I ordered a 2018 and will be doing 37s on her. Currently AEV/Diablo/etc cannot program a 2018 to fix the shift points. Assuming I didn't want to wait for them to (maybe) figure it out, If i gear swap to 4.56 gears, that should work out to roughly the same shift points right?

33/4.1 = 8.05
37/4.56 = 8.11

That's a 0.08% difference in overall gear reduction which is negligible as far as I can tell.

Yes... but what that calculation does not factor in is the added rolling mass and resistance of the larger tires.

There is no way I would spend the money to regear to 4.56's. Hell, I want 4.56's with the stock tires.

You dont have to take my word for it, but I would suggest going to at least 4.88's if you are swapping right to 37's.

You can run the 37’s first and determine how your driving style meshes with those tires. 4.88 would probably be a minimum (and the standard) if you’re going to regear. Or 5.13’s.

4.88s would be my choice too but I'm also looking for drivability so without a procal, that was my major goal. I'll see how she rides with the 37s and a stock gearset. If its bearable I'll likely wait for a tune to come out
