E85??
As I'm working my way north on a trip, I am seeing more and more gas stations offering e85. My owners manual says no, but geez, the price difference is nice!! Anyone ever use it?

Re: E85??
If it is not advertised for use in our trucks, I certainly would not use it.
Also, my father-in-law once used that stuff in his gmc, and he stated the much cheaper cost of it was long outweighed by the very poor fuel economy that comes with using it.

Re: E85??
Don't use it unless you have a custom ECU tune for it. With a tune. You will get more power out of E85, but at the cost of fuel mileage. The turbo, and supercharged guys use it as cheap race fuel. A twin turbo engine can easily pick up 100hp with a switch from 93 oct to E85 with a tune, bigger injectors, and fuel pump.

Re: E85??
I had a rental car a few years ago that was flex fuel. E85 was really cheap where I was at. I gave it a shot, and you could watch the gas gauge needle drop at an alarming rate as you drove down the road.

Re: E85??
Bad for the environment, bad for gas mileage, bad for your engine, no energy....bad stuff.
2018 Flame Red, Moon Roof, Dual Alternators, Ram Boxes sadly Ram ran out of, Luxo Package with 8.4 UConnect, Enter and Go with remote start, Auto Wipers and Lights. Added missing skids and White Knuckle sliders. 35" BFG KM3s. Procal and Warn wireless remote for winch.
Re: E85??
Ive been running E85 in the race car for years. Its wonderful. As long as you get it from a good station, it is not ill-tempered. It keeps carbon build up to vertually zero around the heads of valves, piston rings, piston tops, combustion chamber, etc.
However, our fuel systems and maps were not made for E85. E85 takes ~23% more fuel to have a stioch ratio: 8.8:1 vs 14.7:1. So yes you see a mileage drop. But you can advance the shit out of the timing and/or boost (for forced induction applications).
As far as emitions go, I fast passed mine with the race car sans cat. So not really sure who thinks its bad for the environment...
