Can't you take the mirror into Ace Hardware and do a little trial and error?

Did take it into ace last night :lockedandloaded:
It's a 10-32 screw. Don't remember the length, think it's a 7/16". 37¢.
Cleaned the inside of the windshield very well last night, then loctite'd in the mirror+set screw to the button... mirror's holding nice and tight now.

now watch, i'll bust the button off the windshield again this weekend :poke:

Not that it’s mkre expensive to buy a $.10 screw but I’ve got #10-32’s if it will coax you to come up and hang out 👍

Oddly, the glue sorta half-failed. Half the glue is adhered to the button, other half is still stuck to the glass. Split right down the middle. :wtf:

Stuck'd back on and holding well.
  1. Mark outside of glass with dry-erase marker
  2. Scrape remaining glue off glass and button with razor blade
  3. Clean glass and button with carb spray
  4. Stick button to piece of masking tape
  5. Use cleaner/activator pad on glass and button
  6. Buff glass and button with microfiber cloth until clean (no smudges/haze on glass)
  7. Apply 3 drops of adhesive to button
  8. Stick button to windshield and stick the tape on to hold the button in place
  9. Let it sit overnight
  10. Remove tape, reinstall mirror
Any bets on how long this one will hold?

I went through this on a car that a windshield place replaced a windshield for me on. It is amazing how hard these are to mount and get to stay.

Permatex or 3M kit. I've never had one detach unless I knocked it off. Preparation of surfaces are key.

Did the Permatex kit again.
The past few times I've done a fairly thorough surface prep... scrape the remaining glue from glass and button with a razor, wipe clean with carb spray, let it dry, wipe with alcohol, let it dry, do the prep/activator wipe, buff that, apply adhesive, tape button to window, let it sit for a few days.

This time, instead of putting "one drop" (lmao) on the button as per instructions (previously been doing 2-3 drops for surface area), I put a couple drops on and schmeared the drops over the entire surface of the button before attaching to the window.
