Hardwired lockers on 4-4.5 gen

Whos done it, and how did you go about it?

I purchased this kit http://www.offroadengineering.com/produ ... tches.html for my Jeep and it worked perfectly. I am wondering if I could do something like this with my truck, or maybe even utilize this particular kit. I know its probably way more money than has to be spent to get it done, but for a guy like myself who is not very good at wiring (and that is being nice) I need something like this. Or at least directions of some sort.

I was originally going to hardwire my lockers until I lucked into a bypass kit. If I were doing what you're doing I would make a t-harness with OE plugs and solder in diodes so the OE knob would still work with the added hard wired switches. What I have in my head is a plug and play hard wire kit with diodes so the new power source doesn't back feed the OE wiring. I would assume you'll get a code when using the switches but it wouldn't matter.

That was one thing I liked about that kit I used for the Jeep... the factory switches still worked as intended. Also the fact that there was no cutting wires and it was relatively easy to install, even for a dummy like me.

So your saying there is more to it then just tapping into a wire for each locker like that kit does with the Jeep (t-harness, diodes etc.)?

The Jeep system by ORE is easier because they're just triggering the existing locker relays. On the the PW there are no external relays to trigger, everything is built into the Smartbar/final drive control module. I agree with Reloaderguy's method of hardwiring.

I wonder how things are going on Pit Slave's "Newer Development"?

Well damn. So its not as easy as just tapping into each of the locker wires downstream from the smartbar and putting a switch on them? Figures.
