King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
Hi all,
I'm currently running a set of King 2.0 IFP from Thuren and was thinking about swapping out only the front shocks for a pair of King 2.5 reservoir shocks for that extra bling. Obviously I would like to get the rear shocks upgraded as well but don't want to blow all my wad at once. Does anyone here have any experience running a similar set up (2.5 or 3.0 shocks in the front and smaller shocks in the rear)? Thanks.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
It won't be an issue for normal driving on or off road. The rear will fade quickly compared to the front if you go bombing through baja though lol.

Nah, just considering.
Definitely agree with the previous comment about bombing through Baja. Just looking for a bit more damping when going down the truck trails and rough country roads.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
Does not sound like an appropriate combo. I would recommend against it. Don knows the answer so if you're really interested in it, ask him. The 2.0's sound like they're more soft ride oriented while the 2.5's are more performance oriented.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
I have seen a truck posted in Instagram with this combo, a diesel, so Don may have some feedback on it. I am considering doing the same thing. I was gonna ask them when the time comes if it is feasible to order just rears in the 2.0 and 2.5 for the front. Would love to hear the answer to this?

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume since you asked Don the same question, he must have advised against it and you were not satisfied with that answer, so now you are asking us. Maybe next time lead off with "I asked Don and he said this......., what do you guys think?"

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
My understanding was the rear would be 2.0 temporarily until he could afford to replace them. If that's the case go ahead. If you mean as a permanent solution then no.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
That's what I was thinking. Pick one or the other, 2.0's or 2.5's all around. You're almost half way to the cost with the 2.0's.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
All valid points gents, thank you. My curiosity was sparked by a Ford F-250 owner that was rocking a Fox 2.5 in the front and a Fox 2.0 (non-reservoir) in the rear. Looked a little funky and the owner only runs truck trails and country roads.
If I talk to Don again I will lose all self-discipline and end up ordering the whole 2.5 kit.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
My recommendation is to lose all self discipline and go 3.0's all around.

Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
These new Best Gens can't handle real shocks. Our 4.0's are their 2.5's I know you know that Pit hehe but I can't help myself
I would never trust a Ford owner who runs light trails for shock advice... if you're on the fence, just get the 2.5's. But if you're happy with the ride of what you have I wouldn't change a thing. The 2.5's are performance oriented, that doesn't exactly mean they're better for you. While most people like or love them, lots of people don't like them.
Re: King 2.5 and 2.0 combo
Damn it! lol I thought he already had 2.0's and was just upgrading one end at a time from there. Reading comprehension is lacking I guess.
NO do not mix and match shocks like that.

In other news, I need to check my front axle and see why the wheels show camber now! Hopefully it's just ball joints or possibly the unit bearings are failing.... IDK.
