Rear bumpers options

Post by Easttnrhino » Fri Oct 13, 2017 8:06 pm

Dropped off in Creek today pretty steep and short, front scrapped, radius arms and frame drug but when rear end came bumper dragged and rolled it a little not bad but enough I can see it. What all options for rear bumpers are out there. That work, already dinged top of tailgate since it sticks out more than rear bumper. Thanks

Stay away from fusion bumpers. They're sheet metal thin junk.

If you're hitting and scraping your stock bumper why get an aftermarket replacement with worse clearance? Road armor etc. will hit and scrape worse.

Check out mercenary Offroad and thurens bumper offerings. Also ocf fabrication and creative Fabworks. All of those will offer better clearance and higher strength

I actually have a jeep frame from throttle down, he's a skilled fabricator for damn sure

The rear bumper design has been on a pause for a bit but I'll definitely be coming out with a rear bumper design. Primarily to bring function into the rear bumper category, there's so many options out there with terrible protection, laughable recovery points, bad ground clearance, models that don't take care of the corners on our trucks, and on and on and on. If you're willing to wait I might have something you like. Otherwise there's a mile long list of options out there. High clearance is a key point to my bumpers but when it comes to the rear, you really have to decide if you want to keep the factory hitch. For every time you hit the rear bumper due to bad departure, you'll probably hit the hitch a dozen times. Replacing that hitch then brings in some serious structural concerns with the bumper, because you can't own a truck and not have a hitch - that's like neutering the thing. What makes it difficult in my mind is that I'm intending to be able to fit larger spare tires in the factory location, so that keeps the geometry of the hitch to a minimum. Anywhoo, when I've got something close I'll be happy to share it with you guys! Front bumper is currently in the works.

I really like the new Warn bumpers - I might swap my rear for one to get some added reverse lighting. Recovery points would be nice but I think the 2.5" Hitchlink I've already got is a better option anyways.

Like the way your thinking damage wagon, do not need to keep factory hitch but do need good hitch. Keep me posted.
