Been using 89 Octane gas since I bought the '17 PW 7,000 miles ago, since it was the recommended octane per the manual. Tried 91 octane once or twice and didn't notice any improvement. What are some of your guys' experiences with running 91 octane for long periods of time?

Don't bother. It's a waste.

I had a 2004 HD Hemi that I ran nothing but 89 in. The same is true for my 2012 Power Wagon. I don't see any point in running 91 in our trucks.

Best octane to run is the lowest that doesn't det.

Modern engines have knock sensors that prevent detonation. You'd need to look at your timing in real time to see if the computer is retarding ignition. Otherwise you're left with calculating fuel economy.

Yup. I think the whole premium myth comes because usually performance vehicle air those with turbos run premium. And so others equate that maybe premium will equal a performance increase in normal vehicles.

The new Twin Turbo Raptor literally wont even run with out premium. So maybe it gets 1-2 mpg more but you have to pay 40 cents a gallon more. Hello

If I am towing the camper in hill country, I run super. Just better safe than sorry is my thinking on that. Never had an issue. But the rest of the time i just use 87.
