I would not ever do a top. Mostly this is a work truck anyhow. Never heard back. When will they learn, the Cool colors and right options are customer orders or a few very rare, savvy dealers that know what PW buyers want and won't trade anyways.
Well, depending on your line of work, having a topper could be much more beneficial than not having one. But, if your not a topper-for-work kind of guy, then you must be a RAMBOX guy

I am a Ram Box guy. I am a bit Lazy and like just throwing stuff in my bed. I also carry large items. I cant wait to use the Ram Boxes for work, and to store recovery gear. Last family members in last night let me know someone else pulled a Thelma and Louise on our road. Going to use it a lot.

So I was watching this thread , but there were some issues getting the board account set up that took a while and the help of Marcus Dethloff.

Anyhow I'm also in Abq and I tried to buy in Abq, but got nowhere. Spent 4 hours at Larry Miller and never actually got a price from her (they really wanted to talk about financing instead...), tried Melloy and they offered me list price. So I called Dennis Dillon and Kyle gave me $10K off MSRP on a new 2018, with that as a fixed maximum price even if the incentives change. There said send us $1000 deposit and we'll order it, no discussion of financing. Very nice.

Yeah, terrible time of the year etc, but I want it anyway. Sold my 2004 Avalanche as it was just getting too expensive to keep it running right.

Was told last week it was built and waiting for shipping, but it will take not less than 3 weeks and probably more to arrive as it's 2 trains and a truck and each typically takes a week or more, then a week to prep it.

I called Dennis Dillon as well. Really awesome folks. Just told Melloy what they are selling for at Dillon and honestly another AZ dealer was the same, what are we going to do? They got with in 750.00 which is not worth having to fly up and drive back.

For here it should be much faster, its a short train and they can drive over and pick it up. But despite that it was was built 8/21/17 and delivery dates have been given up on at this point. They seem to have no clue. I keep hearing how the trains were destroyed in Texas. Just found a story. Sorry don't get the new hyperlink system. https://www.usnews.com/news/us/articles ... rea-tracks

Lets face it, 99% of all dealers are bad. But it seems to increase to 100% in some places like Albuquerque. I always start out with lets clear the air, I don't give a crap about payment amount. Whats the price.

And you still got bent over. Perhaps you just don't speak their language? If you don't care about payment amount why aren't you asking which financing option would lower the net price of the vehicle the most? Here's a suggestion (since you're asking for ordering advice), tell the dealer you'll take a higher interest rate if they'll reduce the total cost of the vehicle by a grand or two...then go refinance, or pay off the loan as soon as the originating loan is processed by the lender.

Dennis Dillon gave me $13k off MSRP in mid February, $1K of the discount was for taking their loan with a max down payment of $5K. Their loan was 5.5% interest with no early payment restrictions. I paid the loan in full two weeks after; I didn't care about the payment amount either, just the net cost. I could have refinanced the load to a 1.5% interest rate at the local credit union also.

The best time to car shop for American brands is February to May (April and May the best of those four months).

Was your truck "on the lot" or did you order it ? Just curious. I ask because, by us, I have never seen anything over 10k discount unless it is on the lot already. With rebates I ended up with $6500 off on my ordered truck & they told me it was the most they have seen anyone get off an ordered truck.

On the lot but they would have ordered anything I wanted and given me the same discount percentage (21.5%). DD had 8 Power Wagons on the lot at the time, and there were 50 more in the PNW at other dealer's lots.

Mine would have equated to 10K off. 9250.00 for the privilege of buying local. Still thats 2K profit for an Order Dillon would never get locally anyways. So 2K to place an order, with no customer cost acquisition? I can see why they do it. At 13K off they would be breaking even or losing money. If I recall HB was about 2K.

USAA will give me the same 1K off through a deal with FCA. Which is how I expect to finance it, like I did the two houses and the avalanche.

Depends on the starting price but they didn't lose money. There is a lot more in the deal than you think.

Glad everything worked out, Kevin. Sorry for the hassle but I don't handle the admin stuff. Those 2018's are nice trucks! Dennis Dillon sounds like a great excuse for a road trip and break in.

It left Mexico as of yesterday! Next stop Utah. At least in theory. We'll see if I get it mid Dec or have to wait until Jan after a trip.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? Let me call today. I tried yesterday and no one answered the phone.(I dont leave messages because they wont call back) If mine has not shipped there is something SERIOUSLY wrong. Yours built middle of November and its left Mexico. Mine was built 9/21 and still sitting at the plant "because there are no trains". Mine better be on that train......

Sounds like mine is on the same train. They are telling me it averages a week for delivery to ABQ at this point. Obviously longer to get north for Dennis Dillon.
We should do some sort of wheeling trip together some time Kevin and see who has the nicer rig

So the transcontinental railroad has officially been completed. My truck is in Belen NM a 30 miles south of town, in transit. But are you ready for the punch line? Estimated delivery date 12/12-12/18. Come on, thats not possibly, 2 weeks from 30 miles away? Some calls are going to be made, will check back tomorrow. Kevin you should grab an update as well. Probably about to be delivered in Idaho

Whooo Hooo no longer on the choo choo! Dealer is now fighting for a car carrier like all the other dealers when the steam engine rolls into town. Just in time too, its snowing. Could be today still, if not hopefully tomorrow. ( Transport people promise about as much as Chrysler)

I just received the VIN for my order today. Hopefully, my truck will be delivered on time. I have a narrow window from the time I get back from deployment until I am knee deep in a cross country move.

Nice. Hopefully your ordeal will finally be over.
We should have an ABQ PW meet sometime. Run Cedro or something.
I have been seeing more of them on the roads around here lately.

Ok picked it up. Ordeal was Far from over though. The Ram Boxes were deleted by Chrysler automatically. The sales manager who ordered it no longer works there, but should have called me to let me known they ran out of Ram Boxes so we could have made some decisions on waiting or what have you. Ended up just going with it after another 750.00 off the price below invoice. Everything else was correct. Forgot what the term was they used for the Ram boxes being not available. May have to do with color as the seem to pre-paint them or something. But dealer says none of his trucks have come in with Ram Boxes lately, and he has none on the lot. On the plus side last summer incentives were 750.00 for 2018, this turned into 2750.00.

Should I be surprised I had to set up the winch hook? Took care of that as soon as I got home

Will post some front yard poser pictures above. Going to go get a tree tomorrow. Will post my initial impressions when we get back.

When Kevins gets in lets do a little run.
