This^
I believe you'll have enough adjustment room on the newer trucks using a 4" tube. If you do have to trim the tube it would be very minimal I think.
You can also get low profile jam nuts to cheat a little installed length without cutting the tube.

Mine (2010) was 9-5/32" center to center but I think you have a good bit of tolerance, maybe a 1/2"+/-. Just have to make sure the floor shifter doesn't run out of room before it's in 4lo or 4hi.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Installed mine on Tuesday. Bit of a pain in the ass because I did not have a box end wrench big enough to fit so I had to use an adjustable wrench and a 24mm socket. Do yourself a favor and buy 2 1/4" long bolts and save yourself some turns tightening the stover lock nuts. Probably really could use 2", those stover nuts are tight!

This is my 2017 any idea on why sold stock welded to rod going to build one like the one on here love the idea mine is shorter going to have to do a little different. Clip is gone already on one end of linkage, but it msy have never had one do not know. Present linkage measures about 5.75" center to center.

Mine is 6". I cut down the 6" tube to 4" but it is still too long. The 4" tube will be here on Monday. If the 4" tube has the same 3" of thread engagement as the 6" tube I can cut it to fit.

There isn't any retaining clips on the OE rod, just the rubber bushings.

Have a clip I thought both ends should but maybe not. Any way got heims in today to take stock linkage out since this is so short going to try female joints RH thread both with all thread in between only going to have room for I jam nut, but since both are RH threads even if it moves length stays same. I will have to unbolt trans case or lever to adjust length.

The little rubber grommets are identical on both sides of the linkage. One of the levers is thicker than the other so it looks like grommets are different. Nothing but the grommets retains the linkage, yours looks exactly like mine.

The 4" tube came, I cut it down to 3" since there is a ton of threads. Just like the 6" tube, the threads are nowhere close to centered and the further in you thread the links the worse it gets. Fortunately I ended up with the exact length I needed. Getting the bolts tight was a pain in the butt.

There's no give in the shifter now, it feels like a direct connection. Mine wasn't bad before but you can feel the difference for sure. The OE linkage and grommets are complete BS.

It's just a damper to add mass and weight. Kind of like putting a weight in the handset of a phone.

Thanks all the parts came from summit and Fastenal. Been working on it in spare minutes for couple of weeks. already thru paper work away. Went to summits web site had no luck.(most likely this phone) will try Monday at work. But they were 5/8 " female fine thread 18 per inch right hand thread. Got jam nut and safety washers from them also. The all threaded part is 2 7/8" long. I will have to unbolt one side to adjust if needed.
