Truxx 1.5 level

Post by Easttnrhino » Fri May 26, 2017 5:24 pm

Those of you who installed the truxx 1.5 level kit did you have it reaglined? Was the steering wheel not straight after installing? And if steering wheel not straight how hard is it to adjust. Thanks

The steering wheel is not hard to get straight. On the drag link from the pitman arm to the knuckle. There is an adjustment sleeve that you rotate to move the steering wheel.

I have it on my truck.

Yes the steering wheel will be off. Easy fix, as Rusty stated.

No I did not have any alignment done. The only thing that changes is caster, and its ever so slight that it dosnt even drive any different or wear tires out.

And dont bother with the shock extensions. If its cheaper without them, save some money and dont buy them. If you install them your shocks will bottom out before you hit your bumpstops.

I am a little confused I found the other lift level post and most everyone says the key is the shock extentions. I asuming for ride and flex? The shock extensions in my kit are about 2" or maybe just a little more and the lift is just 1.5".

I installed mine--came w/ the spacers, wasn't extra. Though i have not drooped my front end and measured shock extension vs axle/bump to frame distances, I have felt mine smack the bumps hitting divets in fields driving too fast.

My end state will be Theuren's front end kit w/ Kings & Boogies, but this is good for now.

at full droop my locker electric line is tighter than I like with the shock extenders, got to look at that better, I have found some bump stops on e bay about 2" longer than stock I think I am going to try. Thanks

With the stock bumpstops and shocks and using the supplied shock extensions, you will not hit the bumpstops during compression. You will bottom the shocks out first.

Yes, taller bumpstops will allow you to use the extensions, but then the axle will droop farther which will give problems with brake/abs/locker wires as you have found.

If you want more droop, I'm not sure what's different on the newer trucks, but for my truck I was able to loosen the brake line brackets on the axle and rotate them a little to a better "looser" angle, and I pulled the barbed pin that holds the locker harness bracket out of the crossmember under the engine and that gave the wiring plenty of droop. Right now I have about 10" of travel before touching the bump stop and at full droop, either by fully flexing or by going airborne (both sides drooped evenly at once) my brake/abs lines are tight, and I would say right at their regular functional limit, but not at the point of failure. I do expect to replace my brake lines with braided stainless that are a few inches longer in case I want longer shocks up front.

Your trucks may be different. If you run shock extensions, make sure you check your brake lines at full droop!

Thanks, brakes lines okay, have pulled the plastic rivet for locker line and CAD, adding longer bump stops so they do the stoping not my shocks. the scariest thing is the fact that the spring looks like it is wanting to bow/pop out when it is at full droop.

Just know that you are hurting your suspension by adding those drops. You gain suspension flex but will hit your bump stops more. These trucks need up-travel more than down-travel, and you throw some of that away with the shock extensions. If you do the spacer lift but no extensions you gain up-travel, which is sweet!

With out shock ext I just have 2" down and with shock ext the shock ext the shock bottoms before I hit stop. I know the spacer will stop some up travel just not sure how much. Always a trade off when you modify. The stops are about 2" longer than stock but have some squish in them. Going to give it stry
