New grille, old emblem

Post by sooner65 » Thu May 25, 2017 2:42 pm

Wanted a black grille but wasn't a fan of all the open space. Got an old PW emblem from late 70s model and mounted in center. I think it's a keeper.

I like it!
What brand is that grill?
I used an old PW logo for mine too, cut it down and shaped it, then painted and polished. I would have preferred to use an older style emblem but couldn't find one at the time that wasn't very expensive.

Great minds think alike I guess. Thought about doing the exact same emblem and location as you until I found the "stacked" style emblem. Dude was selling a single on Ebay so I jumped on it. Grill is nothing fancy. Made by EAG as "raptor-style" grilles. They can be found on Amazon or Ebay vendors. But not bad for the price, was cheaper than getting it linex'd. It's all ABS plastic which for the most part is fine. Only gripe is that the 4 primary mounting tabs on top are too....albeit the tabs are pretty thick. And the amber LEDs are cool too.

How do the lights connect? It looks like they use a fog light type connector. Also what brand hood protector are you using? Plenty of coverage for rock chips.

I decided to join the old emblem team since they don't make a grumper for the 3rd gen.
Here I am testing the emblem on Cleghorn. I think it helps the articulation.

The front of the truck is better represented now, since the Feds deleted the door emblems.

Had you put your tow mirrors in the erect position I believe you would have gained another 100 or so articulation points.

Are those ko2’s 35’s?

Actually, I had to fold my mirrors a few times on the trail. Does that mean I lose articulation points?

Yes they are 35's. I like how sticky the rubber compound is for traction and how smooth they roll on the highway. I've been happy with them.
