I got 10mpg towing an enclosed trailer 1400 miles to Washington, half of that through mountain passes, gross weight at 12800lbs. How are you getting that bad mileage?

When I was still working. My mileage back and forth from work was 8.9 mpg. Constant up hill, down hill. No level roads. That's what I get for living in a river valley. On level 4 lane highways. It would jump up to 12~13.

I couldn't imagine having that much power and the resultant gas-mileage! My transmission already failed on my 2016 PW stock at 6,000 miles, I couldn't imagine with another 150 HP.

Really? What failed?

The transmission valve assembly had to be replaced. Not sure why it broke. Was without a truck for over a month.

That's a bad part, not your tranny failing from normal service. You guys don't give your trannys nearly enough credit. The 66RFE is one heck of a tranny, and that's an upgrade from the 545RFE that was also a very reliable tranny. Also understand that when you install a tuner to "improve" your shifts you are taking away the biggest thing that makes your tranny survive a long time. Towing hard doesn't kill autos, shifting under load does. Softening that load the moment of the shift was a solid idea by Chrysler even though people don't like how it feels.

Downshifting WOT from 6th or 5th is the hardest on the 66/68RFE. The real downside to the 66FRE is the gearing.

Definitely lots of torque management in these trucks pulling power during shifts and just for the reasons noted above. The built 47re I had in my 97 in the videos (built Goerend with unlimited warranty with billet input and output, stock intermediate) was way different. When that trans shifted there was no torque management at all in that old dinosaur just the feeling of being pushed in the seat as all that tq was slammed into the next gear. Ofcourse that's what you expect when you sink $5,000 or so in a transmission.

??? Been that way since brand new. Must be the 4.56's I guess. I drive it like an old lady most of the time. It don't matter, same mileage, all the time, towing or not. It is what it is I guess. Maybe going to 35's will help with that, IDK.

I have the 4.56's and 160,000 on the 5.7. I drive like an old lady too. I fit in driving in northern Idaho if that makes sense lol. I'm getting something near 15mpg driving on their open semi-hilly roads near the canuckistan border
