Can anyone name this Plug?
Can anyone name this Plug?
Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and this is my first post (other than to say hello on the welcome thread). I recently purchased a 2012 Power Wagon ST, which I love. Today I was searching for the wire provided by the factory to attach my topper brake light (I found it). While under the truck, I came across this plug and I'm stumped as to what it is for. I assume this is for an accessory that my ST doesn't have, but I'm just not sure what. I've searched the web and can't find the answer.
In case you cant orient yourself with the pics, the plug is situated under the rear of the truck on the receiver hitch. It is right next to the licence plate harness. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have backup sensors? There is a harness that runs across the rear bumper for those.

Re: Can anyone name this Plug?
My guess, back-up camera, bumper sensors, Rambox locks/lights, hitch harness, license plate light
Re: Can anyone name this Plug?
Is it just the one? I thought I saw one on each side on my 13; been a while sense I've been under there. I have backup sensors and camera so I will assume it's not for either of those. Thought I saw a thread a while back that mentioned bed lights, like adeluca mentioned.

One on both sides huh? I have RamBoxes, so I'll look and see if I can find one plugged in. Considering they lock with the key fob, and have lights in them, it seems they might have a plug with multiple connections. And it would make sense for RAM to only produce one wiring harness for all trucks.

Re: Can anyone name this Plug?
Sorry for the delay in replying to some of the questions, I hadn't checked Back until just now. I wasn't expecting such quick response, this forum is great.
There is only one plug. Its mounted on the underside of the truck on receiver hitch in the center of the truck. My truck does not have rear camera or back up sensors, so either one of those makes sense given the location of the plug. I'll do a search of those sensors and see if I can spot a match. Thanks.

Ah, don't quote me on my both sides comment......just going off my old memory I'll take a look underneath tomorrow now since you have me questioning my sanity.

Re: Can anyone name this Plug?
That's back on the left rear of the back bumper right beside the license plate light, on top of the reciever hitch tube. I wouldn't think the plug for the ram box lights would be way back there. More than likely backup camera, sensors or tailgate lock because they all run up through that spot to go in the bottom edge of the tailgate through that little hole.

Then would the plug be open like that? I have the parking sensors and backup camera, yet mine is open like the pic.

That plug is where you connect a flux capacitor.

I thought that was the Mr. Fusion plug, and the Flux one was that random one under the dash. Maybe I've got them backwards.olyelr wrote:That plug is where you connect a flux capacitor.

I can't crawl under your truck and look for what your sensors are plugged into.Adam_C wrote:Then would the plug be open like that? I have the parking sensors and backup camera, yet mine is open like the pic.
Mine go into the receptacle in question.

Mystery solved. This looks like the Plug in question. Back up sensors. Thanks Low_Sky for checking on that.Low_Sky wrote:I can't crawl under your truck and look for what your sensors are plugged into.Adam_C wrote:Then would the plug be open like that? Well damn. Now that you mention it I am starting to second guess myself. I think you are correct on this one. I'm wrong again!MikeKey wrote:

Re: Can anyone name this Plug?
Upon further inspection, the two plugs I was thinking about are outboard of the frame rails....black or gray in color, so bed lights or ram boxes seem logical? Makes sense the op's plug is for backup camera or sensors, assuming he does not have these. For the record my flux is plugged in up front, near my blinker fluid reservoir
