Last spring. The local land fill was running a Spring Cleaning Special. Bring your junk out, and they would take it. The land fill has a road that is about 1/4 mile long with a curve that you can't see around. The state police had set-up scales around that curve. They was busting people for over loaded pick-ups and loads not cover. They was making money that day. Lesson to be learned. Just because you drive a pick-up. Don't think that they won't put you on the scales.

OUCH!!!!

I can't blame them though, it's a pretty brilliantly evil plot on their part!

Three little updates/thoughts/comments after two weeks...
1) Are 2014+ taller than 2013's? Stock to stock I have over an inch on him... suspension sagging?
2) aren't lockers identical to the ones from the old 4:56 gears? My '05 and '06 were painful to lock up with the 'dance', this truck was instant!!! Very happy. :)
3) don't ever buy used from private party with lien... still waiting for the release of lien a month after his bank had check...PITA Luckily the seller rocks and let me bring it home on his tags...

Yep. Best average I have seen in 8500 miles is around 13.5 MPG. The guys with the 15+MPG PW must drive 45, because when I TRY to get good mileage it never gets me much more then 12-12.5.

And yes, I believe the 14+ are a fair bit taller than the first 4th gens. Even the non PW's are. I compared my truck next to two non PW's on the dealers lot the other day, and I only had them by an inch or so. And I didnt measure fender height, either, as tires/air pressure can completely through everything out the window. I measured from a point on the frame to a point on the axle. All I am lugging around for weight is about 350 pounds worth of WK sliders and some odds and ends in the ramboxes. I bet the new non PW's are as tall as the older 4th gen PW's.

The only thing I have done with my truck is add WK sliders and lower the air pressure in the tires to 45 in back and 60 in front (that is where they seem right). NEVER, and I mean never have I ever seen my average MPG readout (or hand calculated) reach anything over 15, and I watch it like a hawk. And honestly, I dont think there is any possible way anybody in the world could drive more conservative than me (most of the time anyway  )... I try to get good mileage and drive accordingly. 90% of my driving is typical 55 MPH county roads. We have two stop lights in our entire county. The few longer trips I have done at 55-60 MPH is when I have seen the 14ish MPG numbers. The few freeway road trips at 75+-... forget it... Im in the 12's if I am being conservative. I will also add, my 4 cylinder deactivation mode rarely ever kicks in... almost have to be going down a slight incline during a nice calm day for it to briefly work.

I am not calling you a liar at all, just relaying my experience. You (and a select few others) must have one of those freak PW's. I think the majority with the newer ones are in the 12-14 average.

Me? I dont think so. There is just no way I could drive any better to gain MPG. Now, heading on a downhill slope with no stops and a tailwind, well yea... but I am talking about normal day to day driving.

That was normal driving, little bit of traffic, but mostly freeway. You're right about city though, you lose about 1 mpg per stop light.

I was shocked by how high the new (14+) Wagons sit! The rear of the 14+ definitely sits higher, the front may as well. The rear of a stock 14+ sits higher than my 2012 that has a mix of Carli and Thuren (about 2" lift up front and about 1" lift out back) and 37s!!! Didn't get a chance to compare front height. Really love that color, awesome!!!

My mpg varies greatly with the gas I use and driving habits. I floored the truck in first gear the other day for the first time in months and the evic stated iwas getting 15mpg average shortly afterwards. I've never gotten that before. It's like the computer compensated after a WOT event. Also some tanks of gas get better mpg depending on the octane rating and brand. I think it's hit or miss.

Yep - lockers worked great as did the sway bar... New one still hops pretty bad in the deeper stuff climbing. (60 psi in tires). Mud was pretty nasty - truck is a mudcycle at the moment...

60psi sounds painful. 40-45 will probably make it ride a lot nicer and shouldn't hurt handling, unless you are towing
