Borgeson 800123 box

Post by Sony224422 » Wed Oct 26, 2016 8:16 am

Hi everyone,

Some of you may remember me from dodge talk. I don't have a power wagon but you guys always were able to help me out :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Anyways, has anyone gotten the borgeson 800123 box? Is it actually literally the mopar box rebuilt? Are they lasting? I have the big mopar box on now and its shot again according to the shop that did my alignment. I have done an entirely new front end last weekend, carli ball joints, t style synergy steering, carli low mount, new wheel bearings, new u joints, new nitto trail grapplers 265/70/17 load E, carli endlinks, and i put new bushings and heim joint on my thuren track bar. I have the borgeson steering shaft already, and i have the big mopar upgrade box with the huge selector shaft. I have a stock height truck so i have been running the pitman arm that came with it. I also have Black ops diesel control arms the original i beam style. I don't know if my caster is adjusted correctly but I think it is.

I guess i will have to change out the box again, im pretty sure its leaking too a little bit. Will the borgeson box fit the same foot print and all that for my steering brace? I really don't want to get another one of those either. Any reviews on it? I've seen other people not so happy with borgeson products, and same with redhead and PSC.

Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forum. What is wrong with your box? Loose output shaft? Leaking fluid? Lack of power? Which box you have? 4 bolt top, or the 6 bolt top? Check with Dodge OffRoad. He has some steering box up-grades. I've been running the PSC box for awhile. The Redhead boxes has some issues not long ago. Don't know if they got their poop together or not.

Its the big box with big selector shaft i think 6 bolt that was supposed to cure all the problems for wandering and such. I don't know where its leaking from but it is leaking I can see the fluid build up and drip off it. My steering wheel has play in it still and it feels like it wanders a bit going down the road. It also always seems to be under load, but that could be my pump. I think i can make it until next summer but its just annoying having to over correct all the time

Hello everyone,

I'm back. I kind of forgot about this, and now i need to get another alignment after being told the box is so sloppy now it needs to be replaced.

I am still looking hard at this borgeson box. Has anyone tried it yet? I am just afraid i will get it, get it in, and be unimpressed. I wasn't really impressed with the current box i have now, but i have gotten used to the wander of it. The bigger dodge box seemed to have failed way faster than the original one.

Sadly there’s not a great box out there that I’ve found. I’ve tried all of them including the Borgeson and have wound up with a big 6 bolt rebuilt and tapped for hydro by Howe Steering. That’s lasted the longest for me going on two years so far.
Central Texas and Houston area
2009 5.7 auto quadcab
Carli 3” coils deaver leafs 3” kings with 4 tube bypass rear and fr/rr hydro bumps
Howe steering pump and gear with hydraulic ram assist
Custom tube bumpers and white knuckle sliders
Creative fab trussed axle. rem polished and cryoed 5.13 gears with arb lockers fr/rr
Sharadon stage 2 545rfe with 3000 stall edge converter
Lots of other stuff lol

I have a factory 2016 steering box with 22k miles on it that I'd sell.

You tried the newest Borgeson box and it didn’t hold up? The big 6 they rework? Jeez this is bad

Borgeson 800123 box

Skip Borgeson and Redhead and buy a PSC. I can get you a PSC box that is brand new and has bigger bearings, bigger apply piston, the current trucks’ case (much bigger than 3rd gen), with the monster output sector shaft to run 08+ steering, with the same input shaft your truck has so you don’t have to remove and buy a new input shaft. It’s the sweetest deal out there for a 03-08 truck.

Don’t waste your money on something with as much play as your worn out box.

I have the borgeson box on my 07 and it drives like a different truck. Wish I would have done it sooner.
