Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Well shit, no cruise control with fuse out. Would someone make the switch for crying out loud lmao!?!?!?!?

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
It most likely wont work with the switch we are envisioning either. It basically will mimic pulling the fuse, so...

Why would it not work with the switch in place set to “on”?

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Hm. I dont know if you are referring to the "on" meaning the nannies are killed, or meaning the nannies are not killed.
As long as the nannies and ABS are usable (like factory) then you would have cruise control. Once the switch is used to kill all the nannies and ABS, cruise will go bye bye.

On would be the circuit complete and OEM functionality happening. This is definitely the key for us lazy bums that want maximum hooligan on-demand!

Every time you flip the switch the computer stores a fault code. There is no integrated deactivation of the ABS that doesn't get a code unless you reprogram the ECU.

Is there a way we can have this information recorded and placed on a public power wagon forum table to judge all 2014+ year member hooligan levels?Reloaderguy wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 2:29 pmEvery time you flip the switch the computer stores a fault code. As an experiment try unplugging one of your wheel speed sensors. It will set an ABS code and turn on the light. When the system knows that it’s not trustworthy due to missing sensor input it shuts itself off and turns on the dash light. Then see how it starts and drives. In theory if ABS is shutdown, TC and ESC should follow suit since they all work together and rely on each other. If it works get an extra wheel speed sensor and turn it into a T harness with a toggle switch to interrupt the signal whenever you want. No voltage or amperage to speak of that you need to worry about just a toggle switch. If you need to take it in for warranty service, just put your original wheel speed sensor back in.

The YAW sensor may still cut throttle response if it senses unwanted lateral movement. We'll see as soon as someone has the stones to give it a try.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Well it just so happens that a 2016 CTD came in the shop today, so I had the chance to conduct a partial experiment. I disconnected the left front wheel speed sensor and started the truck with one push on the start button. The ABS and traction control lights came on and it set two codes, one in the ABS module for sensor fault and one in the drivetrain control module for implausible ABS data. Plugged it back in and the lights went out, then I cleared the codes. The connector is on the back of the shock mount tower. Slide the red CPA (connector position assurance) retainer up, then squeeze the release tab and pull down on the sensor end of the connector.
Just waiting on one of you nanny encumbered 4.5 gen. hooligans to take a trip to Donut City and see how far you get. Just watch out for the cops, I've heard they like to hang out where there's donuts.

It just popped back into the 30s and 40s around here and we lost the majority of our snow. I will give this a whirl as soon as we get some snow again.

Did the truck start with any additional actions required or just normally? Do you know the part number and cost of a front wheel sensor?Retired BLM Rig wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 2:32 amWell it just so happens that a 2016 CTD came in the shop today, so I had the chance to conduct a partial experiment. Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Is that the sensor/wire that connects to the hub bearing?
I ask, because I do know that when that is not connected on a cummins truck the 4wd system will no longer work. Not sure if that is the case on our power wagons.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
The engine started completely normally with no additional actions required. O'reilly's shows Part # ABS3028 for $70.99. I'm sure you could find it cheaper somewhere else. I don't know the O.E. part#. It will be less $ on Amazon or Ebay.Reloaderguy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 11:48 amDid the truck start with any additional actions required or just normally? Somebody just needs to unplug it and test the driving results before buying a sensor. It may not work due to yaw sensor input.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Yes, hub bearing wheel speed sensor.
The 4X4 has to work on our trucks because we have a manual transfer case shifter. It may be a different story with an electric T-case or CAD.
So imagine that you're driving on your hilly unimproved property in 4Lo and you snag your harness on a piece of brush and the result is that you lose 4X4 function. That would suck!

Yes. It is a bunch of shit. We broke one on my buddys cummins truck while we were doing ball joints. He almost couldnt get out of my dads shop because there is a big hill and it was snow covered and slick. It was rediculous.Retired BLM Rig wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2018 12:58 pmYes, hub bearing wheel speed sensor.

Although we do have a manual tcase, dont forget us guys with modern pw’s do have a CAD. The fact that pulling the fuse for the systems still allows the use of 4wd, I would think this mod wouldnt render our 4wd system useless either. We will soon see

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Even though we have a manual t-case, there is still a t-case position sensor. Is the TCPS ONLY for our lockers or would it also prevent 4wd if a WSS got snagged as you say ? I am curious.
