Word to the wise, don't use a 1/4" impact to remove the yaw sensor screws while the truck is running. It'll set off an ECS fault code that can only be cleared with a computer.

Nothing now. The EVIC lit up like a 4 Alam fire so I put everything back together. I cleared out the codes when I reprogrammed the TPMS today.olyelr wrote:Reloaderguy wrote:Word to the wise, don't use a 1/4" impact to remove the yaw sensor screws while the truck is running. This is what he posted in his build thread...
Reloaderguy wrote:Autel Maxsys. I rented the computer from a member on Cummins Forum. There is a 100pg+ thread in the 4th Gen section. Instructions are on page 76. The member's SN is 4x4x4door. You'll have to get on the waiting list unless there is a member closer to you with a device. If you'd rather buy a device you can get them on Amazon for $1200.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
There are members in AZ, TX, WA, and I think MD doing the reprogram in person. I got on a rental waiting list in December which was fine since I went on vacation for two weeks during Christmas.
The reprogram took 5 minutes. I had the computer two hours from the time the mailman delivered it to the time I put it back in the mail. The cost was $100 plus shipping ($165 total). I removed the speed governor while I was in there.
I couldn't find any other pertinent functionality for changing options (tire size calibration, fogs, smart bar, etc). This device is really for shops, not enthusiasts. I also had to get the 4 digit security pin number from a dealer which required emailing my registration and driver's license to prove ID.

MF---$1200--color me not so interested, that's ⅓ of the way to my new suspension. $1200 buys a lot of patience looking at a small yellow light & doing the mental kabooky dance adjusting my speedo...Reloaderguy wrote:https://www.amazon.com/Autel-MS906-Auto ... axisys+906adeluca73 wrote:Color me interested....did you upsize the orange mamba yet?vanished wrote:

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
1200 bucks and it can reprogram keys? You could charge $50 just for the tpms reprogram and recover cost and that would be a deal! For others. That and transmission reprogramming? The snap on equivalent is even more money. Seems like a decent investment. For those that would rather not pay a dealership $200-500 to diagnose once off warranty

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
The 906 will only trigger a relearn, it has no transmission programming functionality that I could find. I went through all of the options and all I could find that I wanted to change was TPMS and speed governor. The tire calibration feature is only populated with factory tire sizes.
The device is a diagnostic tool for every major platform, it's not specifically for Ram trucks. I paid $100 to rent one, now that I've used it I'm glad I didn't buy it. An AE is probably more useful outside of the TPMS.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
It has the ability to do the quick learn and moniter clutch values so if and when you replace your transmission you can do it yourself. I used a snap on version to do this when I replace my tranny and the snap on one is much more $$$ either way it's a good alternative.Reloaderguy wrote:The 906 will only trigger a relearn, it has no transmission programming functionality that I could find. When you hit the button, all that does is allow you to spin your rear tires when going in a straight line. All other nannies are still in place.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
It seems that soon, all these electronic nannies will prevent us from using these trucks where they were designed to perform best --- off-road. The simple answer would be to have them all shut off when in 4wd. But the factory would never do that, it would make too much sense. I can not think of 1 off road situation where having an elec nannie would have helped me.

Thats just it... off road they are downright wrong. Maybe the hill descend is a neat option, but I dont know I have not used it. The rest of the garbage doesnt belong on an off road vehicle. There should be a simple on/off switch for it all, but I understand they simply cant do that.
On road none of them bother me much at all. I like most of them actually. Maybe the ABS ticks me off once in a blue moon, but otherwise they dont bother me during on road driving.

Re: Kill-switch for electronic nannies
Abs is the one that I cant stand. It's also the only one I have to deal with. Tomorrow I'm going to measure resistance across the abs sensor and see if I can Bypass the abs system and unplug the abs pump. I was talking to an old timer Chrysler mechanic and he thinks it might work and keep the comp happy.
Edit;
Also this is my other thought. Make sure the abs system loses power right when it kicks on
