Floor Console removal

Post by jailor97 » Sun Aug 07, 2016 4:50 pm

Question for everyone out there:

The one, and only annoying thing about my 2015 PW is the floor console. If I ever want to transport an extra person up front, they have no real place to rest their feet.

Anyone have success in removing this console and replacing the boot around the manual shifter for the transfer case?

Man, I find my council very handy. I would hate it not to be there.

How often do you actual have someone sitting in the middle? I would suggest just tossing a small floor mat in the truck during that occasion (or a towel) and just set it on top of the council. Or why cant they just put their legs on a slight angle with their feet on the main floor mat? That's what I have always done in the past... nobody ever bitched about it.

I like my flip up middle seat. Good for long road trips with the wife. Never had an issue with her shoes on the floor console though...

It's pretty easy to remove. There is a few 10mm boots holding everything down. Once it's out though the shift boot will be an issue. Could slide it down and stick it to the floor somehow

Thanks for the input guys! We recently took a trip to Yellowstone and just the little bit of driving around in the park left a few people complaining about where to put their feet. The extra cup holders did come in handy from time to time, after we cussed Ram out for putting 10 cup holders within reach of the front seat.
I'm not in a hurry to make the modification, just wondering if anyone out there had already removed theirs and the associated pros and cons about doing so.

One thing to consider is there is HVAC ductwork running through the console for the rear HVAC vents.

One thing, I'm not going to trash this ride and it's set-up just for the heck of it. Very valid point, thanks for sharing!

Speaking of taking apart that console, does anyone know how to turn the 4WD handle. Mine is twisted somehow. New 2016 and the letters (4wd, 2wd, etc) are twisted to the 10 o'clock position.
