Possible mud racing info
Might go to a mud race this weekend and run the wagon. If I do race, should I be in 4 low or 4 hi? Lockers? What y'all think?

Re: Possible mud racing info
Momentum is king. Can you keep your auto in any gear ---regardless of rpm ? If mud is consistent you may not really need the lockers. Do you have a locker bypass ? If not & you want lockers, then lo range is your only option. I would NOT dis engage the sway bar --- it tries to re connect over 18 mph, which your tires will prob going a lot faster than 18 mph. Keep us posted. I have been mighty tempted to do a pull with mine. I went to one & it was a "run what you brung" pull. It was lame. I think mine would have out pulled em all, but can't chance major carnage. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Re: Possible mud racing info
Depends on the mud. The faster wheel spin, the better. Manually shift the gear and keep rpms high.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Re: Possible mud racing info
Damn I forgot about the bypass mod. Guess it will be 4hi and keep the gears low to keep rpm up. Thanks. If I go in will get videos for sure

4hi for mud races. yeah with a bypass you'll be really good to go.
however when i'm off on a trail i generally do 4lo and go slow cause you never know what might be in the mud or under water and my truck is as tough as my wallet! therefore it's not soo tough.

I just cant imagine taking a PW and purposely trashing it in the mud or putting a snorkel on and then taking it in deep water...Here is what CAN happen if you race in mud and find out your brakes don't work...A CTD in for big repairs

Re: Possible mud racing info
That sucks about the truck, that's also the reason why I'm hesitant to run mine in truck pulls. I'd never touch a mud run with mine, I hate washing mine after going through a couple puddles. That would be my version of a nightmare trying to get the mud out of the nooks and crannies, it is fun, but not enough to justify it for me. Also, dat ass, lol. And not the guy on the ground either...fbenross wrote:I just cant imagine taking a PW and purposely trashing it in the mud or putting a snorkel on and then taking it in deep water...Here is what CAN happen if you race in mud and find out your brakes don't work...A CTD in for big repairs

Re: Possible mud racing info
How is running through some mud going to be detrimental to the truck? I'm not even sure I'm going but don't see how playing in the mud could be that bad. As for clean up, yea it sucks but if you park over a oscillating sprinkler and let it run for a while.

Re: Possible mud racing info
If running in mud is detrimental to the truck then my 2015 would be in the crusher by now. I am in florida and thats all we got around here. I am not mud racing mine but she sees her fair share of deep mud at my hunting property. sure clean up is a bitch but thats what a sprinkler under the truck and a pressure washer are for.2011TXPowerWagon wrote:How is running through some mud going to be detrimental to the truck? Re: Possible mud racing info
The one time I did mud races, I left it in 4hi and it skated across the mud, with no issue. It was the stopping that I had the most difficulty with.
I've never done another race though. It's been 4 years and I'm pretty sure I still have some of that mud underneath my truck.
