In my 2015 I get 15-16 mpg doing 55 mph. I'm pretty sure you Texans only see 55 on the speedometer in Walmart parking lots and very briefly on on- and off-ramps. 65 mph drops me down into 13-14 mpg territory.2011TXPowerWagon wrote:Got some good highway miles in yesterday. Took a trip up to College Station, bout 7 hrs an 370miles. Couldn't get dash gauge to get about 11.7 mpg. Tried multiple speeds. How yall getting best mpg? What speed seems to be sweet spot?

Shoot we got 75 mph speed limits, factor in the extra 5mph that people go over an 80 is usual cruising speed. I can't imagine driving 55 mph

My daily commute recently went from 10 miles to 50. I van-pool most days, but this is where my average has been. I went playing in the mud a little bit last week and dropped it to 13, but it came right back up. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by how good it's been.

When Texans hit the Colorado border they must just lose their minds then. I see them running 45 in an already too slow 60, only two lanes, huge line ups ensue... That is summer etiquette. In the winter the Texans haul butt on the winter roads, it is just crazy. We get tons of Texans in Southern Colorado.

Re: Anyone keep track of their trucks lifetime avg fuel mile
Since we had a 7 hour drive back I had plenty of time to try various speeds. 55 mph was an improvement but only got me up to 14.5. If I were to drive 55 over 75 it would take me about 2 hours longer to get home. Driving slower would mean I would use about 25 gallons of fuel vs 33 gallons of fuel. I was able to get gas at no more than $2.50/gallon. So that means it only cost me $20 to save 2 hours of drive time. IMHO my time is worth more than that so I gladly will stick to 75. Moral of the story..... if you drive a Power Wagon, don't pay attention to mpg's lol

The only reason I look at my MPG is to make sure it's not dropping below 10.5, my low avg. for the past 10 years.
