35's fit on stock 2014 and later Power Wagon?
I'm sure it's been asked but the search feature is not cooperating with me. I want a bigger tire form my truck but I'm not interested in suspensions mods. Will a 35" tire fit or am I better off with a 285/75R17?

285/75/17 is a damn good setup on the stock suspension. 35's will fit, but the issue is most are 12.5" wide which will start getting rubbing issues on control arms (probably radius arms as well, but not sure). Especially when using the stock wheels. The height of the 35" tire isnt the issue, its the width. The 285/75/17 is dang near as tall as a lot of the 35's, yet a lot skinnier. Win Win in my book.

The only downfall is tire choices are a bit limited with that size. I wish more company's would jump back on the tall/skinny pizza cutter bandwagon!

I had 285/75R17 Toyo AT2 on my previous truck and I did like them. I kinda want 35's but I don't want rubbing. If the 35's won't fit I'll do another set of the Toyo's.

35"s fit easily on a 14+ PW... Ran them for a while and absolutely no rubbing anywhere (35x12.5x17 Nitto MT's on stock wheels)... Running 37"s now on after market wheels with minimal trimming and rubbing...

I'm running 285/75/17 Toyo A/T II Tires on my 2012 and I couldn't be happier with them. I wanted to get as close to 35" tires without rubbing. The plus for me is I can run tire chains on all four tires with this setup, and come winter that can be a huge perk. The other plus is the 285/75 fit's in the stock spare location, and I think any bigger than that and you can run into issues with the 2014+ models.

The SuperSwamper SSR's are 35x10.5 R17, which is a true Pizza Cutter and fits a lot of the 2500/3500 series trucks with no rubbing on turns.

Yes, but they are a little more aggressive than many people need/want. There are also the pizza cutter boggers and tsl's, but for a good A/T choice the pizza slicers are pretty much non existent, unless the relatively small 235/85's. And the description sounds like an AT tire more than their standard mudding tires they're famous for. I'm at 25K on my Duratracs & I figure I'll be needing new shoes come summer, so are these a bad idea? It's the only tire in that size I can find, spent a few hrs trolling Jeep & 4Runner & Xterra forums & they all said those SSR's are the only talk/skinny option...

What is the general consensus on tire width for 4G trucks? Pizza cutter or wide? I'm fairly certain I can fit both in 35" with aftermarket wheels, and was originally planning on 35x12.5x17's... But after reading some of your comments I'm leaning towards the 285's or 315's. Reason being is on the racecar I used to have steering issues (going through tie rod ends every race, feedback, blown seals and servos) and after several different changes, the most noticeable was going to skinnier tires. That car is a whole different species though compared to the PW. Correct me if I'm wrong but the skinny tires work better in snow and mud, right? The majority of my time is spent on desert terrain of hard-packed dirt, rocks, and sand. Should I stick with my original plan of wide tires or opt for narrow ones?

With sand you are going to want wider tires. I think I found my new tire... Like I stated before, on my previous 2500 I ran 285/75R17 Toyo AT2's like 04Ram2500Hemi has. They were a great tire and balanced with little weight and were smooth as silk at all speed's. So tonight I was on Toyo's website comparing the actual size difference between a 35X12.5X17 vs. the 285/75R17 and low and behold I see a size that I didn't know Toyo offered in the AT2. It's a 305/70R17 which measures 33.9 in diameter (exact same as the 285/75R17) and 12.2 wide. I think this will the perfect size for my truck and hopefully it will fit in the spare tire location.
I'm sick of the balance issue's with the Duratrac but I'm probably going to hold off until the spring for the new tires as the Duratrac are good in the snow so I'll keep you all posted.

What is the point of tall and skinny tires? Is it purely aesthetic or is there a functional advantage in some terrain or situation? The only thing I can think of is getting better mpg than a wider tire of the same diameter.

Beware though, they barely measure up to a 33. Kinda like my so called 35" km2's on my jeep.... A lot of tires are this way, though. But just be carefull, if you are looking for a true 34x10.5 you will be disappointed.

I ran those tires on a Jeep TJ, but in a 35x13.50 size. Excellent highway ride, but a bit loud. Excellent offroad traction everywhere I tried them. They have a super soft rubber compound though, so they really had issues with chunking in the rocks, and they were worn out in 10,000 miles.adeluca73 wrote:Anyone have feedback on this tire ? Better driveability on the highway is one advantage. They have a lower scrub radius, and less tendancy for tram tracking. I run 35x12.5 x 18 Nitto M/T's on stock suspension and they have never rubbed. I actually picked the Nitto's because they run wider than most 12.5" tires.

Tall and skinny tires are better in snow and ice, which is better for where I live. The other plus for me is I can run tire chains without worrying about them rubbing on anything.
