Couple of technical questions from a potential PW owner

Finally got the winch controller and the hook from the dealership today. They had ordered the parts under warranty. Took a bit of explaining to the parts and service guys to help them understand that I did NOT need an appointment to come in and have this installed.

Love the truck. Not a lot of love for Huntington Beach Ram sadly.

You might want to find a different dealer for service - Yikes. Those types of dealers usually overcharge for blinker fluid too.

Yeah no kidding. They are kinda far away too so I'll most likely we on of the two local deales for service

Hahaha, funny you said the hummer gets below 10mpg. My 2000 diesel H1 got no less than 17mpg. My 2012 and 2016 PW never got close to that. Best I ever got in a PW was 14mpg. Realizing, we don't own any of these vehicles for economy....

I'd have to say that the H1 is far superior to PW with the exception of mechanical reliability. Let there be no mistake, H1 is a high maintenance vehicle.

Agree that the H1 is incredible off-road, and that it is *very* high maintenance. I don't think I ever got near those fuel mileage numbers in my '97, but like you said, I didn't own it with the purpose of getting good mileage.

Are you using the cheating gallon size when you brag about that instead of the U.S. Gallon? I have extensive experience with vehicles with the 6.2 and 6.5 diesel and no matter what owners think or were told they did not get 17mpg no matter what. A realistic 14-15 in an empty 3/4ton and 16 downhill. the 6.5 just cannot do better than 4gal per hour under 30% load and I know the hummer does not have the aero of a pickup. Don't get me wrong I'd have one if I could. But I do have a realistic impression on the mileage they achieve. Unless you have the holy grail of carbs and spark plugs... Cause gas jobs were rated at 7-11mpg and the diesel 10-12. Pretty much everybody sees 7-9mpg and complain about their 23 gallon gas or 25 gallon diesel tank. If you truly got 17pg then you better have sold it for a small fortune as the new trucks realistically don't get much better

The hill descent mode is pretty much the same system used by Land Rover for decades. It's very handy for steep hill descents in washouts, rocks, etc. Using the ABS system is nothing new. Hummer H1 used it, Land Rover used it. Mercedes G-wagons. etc. No reason to fear the lack of engine braking. You still use your gear reduction when descent mode is not activated just as you would on any old rig.
