wrecked PW

Post by Surveyor » Thu May 07, 2015 10:24 am

So I'm still looking for my PW and I found a loaded one at a good price but its been in two wrecks according to the carfax.
1st wreck says front left, minor to moderate damage, airbag deployed.
2nd. Wreck says multiple impact, was towed.

My gut says no but I can't find a pw for my life. Would you buy a truck that had been wrecked? Anyone know how accurate the reporting is for the wreck? Oh yeah its an 11' with 3 previous owners. Would you put your family in that truck? Or am I over thinking this and missing one hell of a deal?

Thanks

What's the price on the truck and the mileage?

I guess if it was me unless it was an amazing deal I probably would pass. This truck just doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy feeling.

I wouldn't buy anything that's been in a wreck unless I had a lift and a buddy who knows Rams inside and out right there to look at it. On top of the abuse some vehicles see from the owners, you then have to take into account what could be damaged on the frame that may cause huge headaches down the road that you can't really see at that time.

Alright thanks for backing off the ledge! Just frustrated in my PW search and getting desperate. I find one now and again but of course they are a day and half drive away. Hell I've had a $500 hold on an 07' for 5 months on a dealers lot and I haven't even test drove it. It has the recalled airbag with no eta on parts. I like the 3rd gens better but with a family I would love to find a 4th gen for the bigger back seat. Just amazes me there's not more for sale in Colorado with all the offroad opportunities. I want one just for hunting and camping.

I paid more than I would have liked for mine, but it was exactly what I wanted and only two years old at the time. I would be patient, but be ready to pull the trigger when one pops up!

This one is for sale near me... http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/ctd/5005247421.html

With your dollar being at 1 U.S. Dollar= 0.82 Canadian dollar, you might want to consider a purchase in Alberta. A quick search on kijiji Alberta shows at least 10 power wagons for sale in Alberta. There are several 3 rd gens that have 110000 miles to160000 miles ... From $7500. -140000 Canadian dollars and a variety of 4th gens. Not sure what your laws are concerning bringing vehicles back.

I looked for over a year before I pulled the trigger. I somewhat regret not pulling the trigger on a 2009 with 37k miles. I was patient and found the third gen I wanted, a 2006 with 56k miles.

What part of Colorado are you in? I just did an autotrader search and found 45 new and used listed for the Colorado/Wyoming area.

Are you looking for used or new?

New in Golden

Here is one in Bountiful,

That covers east, central, and western Colorado with a quick search. You have to be prepared to drive at least a few hours. There are several more new and used ones.......

I saw a 3g on Western Slope CL just a few days ago. Had mid 40's I think for miles and the winch was gone. It was in Durango.

Yeah, I check auto trader 2-3 times a day. Drives the wife nuts. If money was no option I'd just go pick one up. The tricky part is finding one I like that's reasonably close with the right price. Found one up in Wisconsin but thats just to far. Sure is a good looking truck. Sage pearl. Never seen one that color. I'm a die hard black truck guy but if that color is beautiful.

I've talked to that guy in Durango. I hate to buy one missing the winch. Reading on here sounds like a hassle to replace.

I was wondering if it was that one if not the one in Golden.

The 2012 in Boulder has just under 13,000 miles and is black. Nice pickup and if you could get them talked down some it would be a decent deal.

Haha. Another strike out. Looked at the one in golden last night. Lemon buy back and they still want 32k. First owner had buyback at 38k and the second owner only kept it 11k must be something wrong with it. Salesman suggest it was probably now just a squeak or something that caused the buy back. I bet... missing the winch and fairly beat up non the less.
