Production numbers?

Post by 2011TXPowerWagon » Fri Mar 27, 2015 2:18 pm

Anyone have any info on the number of PW's built by model year? I have not seen a lot of numbers on the amount built and just curious.

I wonder if an email to Chrysler could shed some light on the subject. Not sure why I care, guess curiosity is getting the better of me.

I read somewhere a few years ago that they don't make more than 999 a year! Not sure how true this is. It would explain how come I never see any around though.

Current numbers are in the 10000+ annually. The USFS, BLM, and US Custom/Border Patrol are the largest single user of PW. The Gov price was about 30K a couple years ago.

So when and where do they offer up for auction the PWs that have reached their service life?

I'm sure they are! Probably tons of miles too but would be a good base for a project if cheap.

Current offerings would be '10 to '11 models for USFS trucks. They sell'm at 4 years old. While they do get fleet maintained, I've seen them at the dealer, they get used hard, and the LE units are hacked up for not only the electronics, but a prisoner transport area like a regular cop car.

That would be sweet to get one that is hacked up and hack it up a little bit more and not have to feel bad about it.

Just got an email back from Chrysler Group LLC Customer Assistance and according to the email for 2011 model year only 825 PowerWagons made. Seems pretty low...

Gov sales aren't badged as PW. There are 3 here in town at the Prescott NF, and I saw several in two days near Sierra Vista in BP colors in Nov.

That seems about right. I believe that in 2007 they made 853.

I got an answer from Chrysler Group on the 2012 models:

"According to our records, there were 1,133 Ram 2500 Power Wagon 4X4 Crew Cab units built for the 2012 model year. Of those vehicles, 164 units were built in Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat paint."

I think I went to the Ram website and look for customer service or "contact us" section. The email I got back from them has a address of "customercarecsi@chrysler.com"

I did what 2011TXPowerWagon did, also. I went to the website and the "contact us" portion. Filled out my name, last 8 digits on my VIN and asked my question. It took them about a week to get back to me, but I'm glad they did!

I googled production numbers for PW, those stats show just under 10,000 per year since 2005. These numbers sound a bit more reasonable.

My PW was built in Feb 2015, the last four of the VIN is 6395. Do you know what that means?

VIN codes have been debated on here and the other site for years---what we learned over time is that the ARE NOT SEQUENTIAL like you think. Off the top of my head the number of '05's made was around 2200. In '06 it was around 1200. '07 was 853. '08 was a very small number, under 500 I believe. In '09 it went up because of the motor update. The reason that rock sliders only came on the '05 was because production numbers were so low that the aftermarket company making them did not find it feasible to continue with such low numbers. I am not going to argue with you, and you are entitled to believe whatever you like; but I suggest you use the method in the post above and find out directly from Chrysler.
