Hmmm, interesting. So JBM has minor rubbing on his 14 w/ 35's & 14PWaagy also only has minor rubbing with 37's...my stock Duratracs are about ½ done already, planning for the next set & size right now.
Re: "Welcome Thread"
That looks great. I'm wanting to run 37's on my next tires. Have you noticed any major drop in MPG or power when hitting hills on the hwy? I have a leveling kit and run 35's now and get the tiniest rub when fully compressed and turning to the left. I am sure with a little trimming I can make them work.14PowerWaggy wrote:No rubbing with 37's... Ok I lied... Had to do some trimming on front fender well and pinch seam but after that no rubbing...

you'll notice a loss in immediate power. If you run a tuner though even an 87 tune with reduced torque management you'll pick a lot of it back up.Jnallison wrote:That looks great. Re: "Welcome Thread"
No, I'd bought these for my jeep, then moved to 37" on it, and kept these. They are all between 7-10 years old, had my tire guy check them, and he said run them till they're dead. I wish they still made these. They are a better wearing tire than the km2's are. The km's are 35x12.5-17, and I have a set of ko's in a 315/70-17 for winter, and zero issues. I'm quite sure I could get 37" on her, but mileage is already horrendous when trailers get my jeep, so I will stay on 35", unless I pick up another set of wheels.black_hawk8888 wrote:Graveltravels: those look like the original BFG mud terrains before they switched over to the KM2 tire. I'm assuming they still sell the old version in Canada? You are running 315/70r17 on stock rims with no rubbing even on the control arm bolts? I get so many conflicting reports of what rubs and what doesn't that it must be pretty close.

What tuner are you running for the 6.4L ? I have done a little searching when I bought the truck but haven't looked for a while due to a lack of options. thx2wagons1driveway wrote:you'll notice a loss in immediate power. Re: "Welcome Thread"
I have not noticed any loss in power at all... I haven't calculated the mileage but so far the computer says 10.4 which is only about .4 less than I was getting with factory wheels and 35" Nitto's... My computer has not been reprogrammed so I don't know what I'm actually getting or how much my speedo is off... Biggest difference I've felt is braking power... We weighed the factory wheels on 35x12.5 Nitto Trail Graps and they came in around 94 pounds... The 37x12.5 Nitto Trail Graps on the Trail Ready wheels weighed right at 118pounds... Not a huge difference... At full lock im barely rubbing the sway bar... We trimmed enough off the back wheel well to not touch there anymore... My suspension is completely stock... My wheels have 5.8" of back spacing and are 9" wide...I talked with Thuren Fabrication yesterday and he said they are getting close on their coils for the radius arm gas trucks... Would only mean about .5" of lift for us PW guys but still am curious to see how they perform... At the least I'll be ordering some King 2.5's from Don if I don't think his coils are worth it... The factory Bilsteins don't seem to care for the 37's... However I have been playing with tire pressure and my current set up feels better than what I started with... These radius arm trucks can run 37's pretty easy...Jnallison wrote:That looks great. I'm wanting to run 37's on my next tires. Excellent. I think I'll run the 37's my next set. You still get very little rubbing at full compression? My wheels are the same BS and width as yours. I am pretty sure I will be going to a 4.56 gear ratio before I do, possibly a 4.88 but not sure yet.14PowerWaggy wrote:I have not noticed any loss in power at all... Welcome to the forum. As a toad, it's heavy. Figure about 7,500 lbs. What are you pulling it with? I'm pulling a GC behind a 41' Discovery 40X with a 6.7, 350hp Cumnins. No problem pulling that. It's only about 4,500 lbs. Worry about pulling the PW tho. It's 8,000 lbs as it sits.elkaholic wrote:New guy here. This followed me home this week

Re: "Welcome Thread"
I pull with a Haulmark 282 DS .... I have pulled a 200 series Land Cruiser (6700 pounds) on a trailer (2500 pound) in the past for a total of 9,200 pounds. I notice it on the big hills on I70 and i80 crossing the Rockies but otherwise no issues. Unfortunately, I have the small chassis on my Haulmark - Freightliner M2 with a Cummins ISC (330hp/1000ftlb) backed by an Allison 3200 transmission so I feel the star load due to the poor gearing of the transmission. Even then it is rated for 60,0000 GCVW and tips the scales at about 27-28K when we are heading out the uphill grades usually find me 3rd or 4th. The big chassis on this rig is a Freightliner Columbia with either a 515hp Detroit or a 550 MB and a 13 speed automated manual .... Those are pulling beasts!RustyPW wrote:

I have a 10,000 pound rated Demco towbar and it appears their baseplate will work on a PW, though it will replace the tow hooks. Worst case, I have to swap baseplates for tow hooks back and forth.
Here's a pic of the rig I'll tow with (taken in Vernal, UT a couple years back)
