I put on 4 hella 700's mainly for early morning corn field excursions. For the price of $70 a set, I am extremely satisfied. Some day I will upgrade them, but for now they work great. I will get some night pics in the morn.

Cactus Red has four KC #851 Driving beam HIDs on a RED Inc. light bar w/ the left and right light canted out at 15 degs. The factory headlights use Phillips X-treme 65/55W bulbs, the factory fogs use converted Phillips 9011 HIR1 65W bulbs. The HID's are switched via an On/Off/On switch via a relay with the upper position tying into the high beam circuit to turn them on, the lower is just on. The relay is detailed in the Cactus Red mod thread - it works with the CanBus system with no pulsing, flickering, or buzzing like the typical Hella type of relay does.

Tried tonight to get some photos while we were up near Williams, AZ with the phone. These are the best of what I took, and they really don't do justice to any of the lights...

Fogs and low beams: Low beams: High beams: High beams and KC #851's: The only problem with the HID's is that once you turn'm off, the stock lights are truly dim...

When the 9011 HIR1 bulbs burn out, I think I'll go with the 9012 series to eliminate the extraneous light emitted by the non shielded bulb.

CREE LED bulbs from a thread on Dodgetalk. The cargo lights are great when I pull into a campsite after dark.

Four Vision X Lights mounted behind the front grill out front, and in the back I have flush mounted LED lights in the rear bumper. I never seem to get good night pictures, but I'll try again and update the post down the road.

I really like that behind the grill look, plus keeps them a little more hidden from the sticky fingers.

My setup, cheap KC daylighter knock off from ebay converted to HID (4500K) using H3 DDM kit on custom mounts behind the grill.

Output is good, patter is not so great due to the halogen optics, but hey it was only $65 lol.

Looking into the new KC Gravity series LED lights to put them in the same location.

has anyone installed the rigid fog light replacement kit?
im looking into something along those lines with the rigid mount the ebay led lights.
how much better would they be over stock fog lights or even hid conversion fog lights?

The '05 thru '09 PW fog lights are perhaps the best lights on the truck. All they need is upgraded bulbs and proper aiming. I used Philips 9011 HIR bulbs - they make a huge difference.

We have the Rigid LED D2 flood lights on the JKUR. The stock '09 PW fogs are better.

Keep your factory fogs and install HIR 9011 or 9012 capsules. Lots of discussion here in older threads.

Not really a user report, but more of an update on new stuff. I have four full-size H1 halogen Hella Rallye 4000s on my PW. Been waiting to upgrade to HID when prices come down, but they are not there yet (still $500 per unit). Saw some ads for the new LED version of the big 4000 from Hella, so called Susquehanna Motorsports to get the scoop. They are nice but real expensive, at $600 each, 35W only. Hella tested some 55W LEDs, but the output fell off pretty quickly as they aged, settling at about the level of a 35W unit, apparently because the 55W units are somewhat overdriven to get the lumen output when new. There is no Hella upgrade path from the Halogen 4000s to the HID or LED versions, because the housings are all different, but you can pigtail your old wiring if you upgrade to the newer lights, so no need to rewire anything. My sense from Susquehanna is that they expect prices on the LEDs to drop quickly over the next year, and HID prices will start falling soon because they are maxed out on their development, while LEDS are still in the improvement stage. HID is now the "old" technology. Looks like I will just put a fresh set of H1 130W capsules in my old lights and wait for the HIDs or LEDs to become economically viable. They also have Philips H1 capsules in +80 and +100 55W versions, putting out insane amounts of light, but with a relatively short life. The 130W H1s are only about 15% brighter than the 55W +100, but the 130s are a lot cheaper and last longer, while drawing more than twice the current.

There is one bit of good news. Susquehanna is selling Hella Optilux 7" HID units for $144 each, pencil beam only. Internal ballast, so simple installation for new or replacements. Units are cheap because there are no serviceable components. When it burns out, you throw it away. Susquehanna says they have a set on one of their cars and these are good lights. I trust the advice I get from Susquehanna, so these might be good.

I've seen a lot of 3rd Gen posts covering upgrade replacment bulbs for the fogs & for the main lights. Has anyone cracked the code (part #'s & make/brand) for 2013-2015 PW replacements/upgrades ?

Anybody have any thoughts on the LightForce 240 Blitz HID lights? I'm thinking of grabbing a pair to put on the front of the Aluminess bumper.

The construction of the LightForce isn't very ridged. Even solidly mounted, they vibrated baddly offroad. I sold mine and replaced them with the KC 851 lights.

If you look at the picture you posted, the light is hanging off a long hinge, and that's not stable.

Honestly the pro comp lights I had on my old truck-the 130w models they were 8" were freakin bright they drew a lot or amperage though..... almost 11 amps each lol if I were you id look into a small 30" gg. Light bar maybe even curved the price point is very good and a lot of their products are lifetime warranty....? GG lighting I see then advertise a lot on Instagram and they have their lights on some pretty capable rigs. Like I said for price point you can really beat 250$ for a curved 40" dual row bar....

I don't know why it wouldn't be any more unstable than any other light that hinges at the base. The weight of the Lightforce is so low, that I would have thought that wouldn't have been an issue.

As far as LED light bars, I'm still not a fan. I just don't care for that look at all. Reminds me of all those "bro" trucks cruising around with all sorts of lights plastered on them and not a speck of dirt on the truck...

It was for me. There are several factors in play. First, the long lever mounting system, and the adjustable focus setup. The lights just aren't rigid. Add in the available covers, and it's worse yet.

"Bro" Truck- that's funny shit!

A 30" lightbar is pretty bright juday. Your right lots of "bro trucks" run light bars....lol I don't think you'll have to worry about us judging you if you put one on...:p I am a fan of old halogens though too but led light is very clean and white naturally.

HAHAHA! Well, around my neck of the woods, those types of off road trucks don't exist. The only sand we see around here is the kind that are in the kid's sandbox, or thrown on the streets in the winter.

And, if someone is willing to let one of those Baja Design Onx light bars go for about 1/3 the price, then I'd probably think about it. Then again, I still like my lights to be round in shape....
