I just wanted to say HI!
My name is Jason. I'm from Northwest Ohio. I have a 1974 and a 2006 Powerwagon. My 74 was purchased new on July 6, 1974 by my great uncle. I purchased it from him when I was 15 and did a complete restore on it. A couple years ago, I decided to build the 360 into a pulling motor. It lasted 4 pulls and then decided to drop a valve while coasting to a stop sign. I purchased my 06 in 07 from the dealer. After I got it, it got a Rancho 4" lift and 37" mud grapplers. I wheeled it a few times, but truck didn't fit my needs anymore.
So the lift came off and snowplow went on. I have now built the truck for sled pulling. I have pulled it the past 3 years and have done very well with it.
Details on the truck are G56, custom traction bars, cold air intake, Diablo, custom hitch, and some other add-ons.
I also have a 2005 Dodge 3500 with a twin turbo Cummins that I'm building into my work truck/drag truck. Shooting for 850 at the wheels, and still be able to tow with it. Working on fine tuning it now.
Family ride is a 2006 Durango with a HEMI. Basically stock except for intake and tuner.
I'm not new to forums, I try to keep my answers short and useful. I'll do what I can to help other members on the site and off the internet.

Welcome Jason. You already know about the empty wallet. You're using your PW alittle differently then most of us. Which is a good thing. It gives us another view (eyeballs) on common problems. We also like to fun at each other.

Never pulled in 4 low and first gear. I know that gear is way to slow!!! I tried 2nd a couple times, and that was still too slow.

And you mentioned that you are aiming for 850 at the wheels with your twin turbo Cummins, and still be able to tow. I didn't realize going up in performance on a smoker takes away towing capabilities, unless I misinterpreted that?

It's a fine line to be able to tow 30K+ at that power and not melt a piston down. I'm trying a twins combo that some have thought of, but not many have tried. I'm a member of competitiondiesel.com. So it's a major work in progress. I'm hoping to take it to the strip on Friday. Hoping to get a couple "safe" 11 second runs before I go all out. (which is pretty good for a 3500 dually at 8300 lbs)

That would be an excellent time for an 8300 pound dually What tuning are you running on the Cummins? I think my next truck will be a diesel. Tired of gas trucks. 15K dollars for only 550hp?! Wow...this is why I dislike gas engines. With a diesel, you could have a 600hp DD that will tow 20,000 pounds, run 12 sec. in the 1/4 mile, and return north of 20mpg unloaded and last for 250K miles. I've been looking at used diesel F250's lately but the numbers don't make sense for me to justify a trade. I've dumped too much damn money into this pig Maybe I will just take out a loan and trade the 'Wagon in. But Miles, I understand about the advantages of a Diesel. I've been seriously mulling it over, too, such as a 3500 Megacab, single rear wheel, 6.7L short bed. If I do, I'll probably improve the suspension with Carli Radius, or Carli or Thuren non-lift, or a mix, King 3.0 reservoir with Don's clickers, 15k winch, 37" Toyos, and I didn't eve get to the engine yet, but you've already covered that part!

I won't make any bones about it, I'd love to have a diesel. But understand, it would be extremely difficult to have a truck that could do it ALL, and do it ALL, WELL. I love to pull, which I would need a diesel for. I also love to wheel in the rocks and mud, which a lighter gas is good for. To meet both of those needs, I guess I have to get another truck.......a diesel. I'm not getting rid of the PW, period.

Yea, a vehicle for each occasion! I can just see that in my driveway! A PW, CTD, and a Jeep SRT8! Well so long at the CTD is a mega cab you are set you can sleep in the cab and tow the rest around on a trailer....

Ace I think you're onto something. I would love to add a Jeep SRT8 to my vehicle fleet and maybe a Rubicon. I'm with you. Maybe just an Abrath as a DD. It's cheap, great on gas at around 40 MPG, and Charlie Sheen seems to do well with one flying around inside his mansion.
