Well, most brand new current model vehicles will be in negative equity if you try to trade them right back in. Everybody knows they loose thousands the minute you pull out of the dealer parking lot.
That depends on how much you paid. I'd probably get close to what I paid for my truck today. Some of you guys are just lay downs.
I traded the Challenger about 14 days after a bought it – that was the "lay down" :poke: I plan to keep this Power Wagon till it rots.

That's a pretty big difference in rigs there! Sorry to hear about the T/A being less than satisfactory... From what I've seen and heard, the Challengers fit and finish is all over the place, from great to terrible... I've been lucky... My 2012 SRT Yellow Jacket, and 2015 Hellcat both had/have very nice fit and finish. But I bought them used, so I was able to go over them closely before jumping in. I also had a 2015 Scat Pack before I jumped on the Hellcat. It's fit and finish wasn't up to the SRT standards. The hood was misaligned, and the rear tail lights were tilted a bit... Not enough for the average person to notice, but bad enough to annoy me when ever I washed it! LOL!

Anyway, good luck with the Power Wagon. They are awesome rigs! (I hope you understand you're going to get about 60% of the all around MPG of your T/A...!) My Hellcat is my economy rig....:)

I would have thought every Hellcat that rolled off the line would have had some extra TLC - sorry to hear that. I really only had two issues with the T/A – the steering wheel leather stitching was horrible (hence the three year old comment), but that could have been replaced. The kicker was the rear differential whine at 65 MPH was insane – sounded like the transfer case of an old WWII weapons carrier at highway speeds. I could have gone through the hassle of getting it fixed, but from what I've read, sometimes a new diff fixes it, but most of the time the sounds comes back. Supposedly the problem is the diff housing and Dodge will be updating the parts and retrofitting those affected – but I didn't have time or faith to wait on Dodge for it to happen. Someday I may get another one, but I won't buy it without going over it with a fine tooth comb and an overnight test drive.

And yeah, the MPG on the 392 was impressive, especially given the insanity of the on-tap power. On the Power Wagon, I've been averaging 13.5 in town and 15-16 highway with 35" tires; however, it just dropped to 12 in town since I got the Pedal Commander :run:

They'll try to tell you 'this is a special vehicle' and all the BS sales crap. Fact is, these truck are hard to sell and you have a lot of bargaining room. Just get used to 12mpg.

I don't think most people should negotiate their own deals. It's obvious who understands the sales process and who doesn't. Why anyone willingly sits down, immediately at a disadvantage, and mixes two separate transactions is beyond me. The majority of these transactions make zero financial sense and that's excluding the depreciation aspect of the vehicle itself.

:popcorn: Well said. Although there is something to be said about irrational emotional purchases. I ended up with a Corvette that way. Just gotta be honest with yourself. This is me, blowing money because it's making me happy in this moment. Damn, I miss that car. I might buy another. But, accepting a $900 a month car payment, jebsus. I have friend who rationalizes everything based on what payment he can afford. Sure does look like he's rich. But he's living paycheck to paycheck. That being said, he's BMW 5 series is nice.

I'm only talking the financial aspect of the transaction, not the need/want validity of the vehicle itself. The actual vehicle is irrelevant. Unless you can pay off the loan today, and your interest rate is lower than your other investment returns or tax benefits, you're just a emotional sucker making payments (and your probably "negotiated" a terrible deal too).

... nothing like supplier pricing - even on a build and order your own - takes all the sport out of it. :)
And if you change your mind on an order, you don't have to take it - but that is kind of a crap move...

They don’t even get discuss trade-in with me until we agree on the sales price. I come in with prearranged financing with a credit union, and they usually meet or beat the APR. Money is fairly cheap right now at the 2-3% mark.

I treated my PW buy as three separate deals. Contacted about 12 dealers to find the best price on a truck, told them they were competing for a sale. Some wanted to play ball, some didn’t. Truck came in, got offers in hand for my Chevy and negotiated a trade in price with the dealer, they matched my best offer which was a very fair price. Truck price agreed, trade in agreed, then went to the finance guy. They showed me their best interest rate for what I wanted to put down. I called my bank and two others, the dealer had them all beat. Easy peasy.
